The Whole Works of James Ussher in community pricing

In the description for this product, it says that some of the works are in the original latin. I do not know latin and wonder if this is still worth getting or is there some sort of translation that goes with it. I feel like this is a stupid question but ..... thanks for your consideration.

Hi Valerie, those of us who read the General forum will be unable to answer your question. I doubt the Logos folks who would know are going to be reading this forum. You will probably need to email Logos Sales to ask about it.

If you want just an informed guess: I doubt that any translation goes with the works that are in the original Latin. Those would be works of his that have never been translated in to English, and Logos does not do translations when they publish works (witness the volumes of John Owen's works that contain Latin works of his, which have never been translated). So it would depend on what percentage of Ussher's life works are in English whether you'd still be able to get some use out of the collection in spite of the Latin works. I tried to ascertain that by a Google search. The Wikipedia page on him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Ussher) contains links to online editions of these 18 volumes, which it looks to me are mostly comprised of Latin works; only a few are in English. However the product description page contains full descriptions of the contents of each of the volumes, and what you see is what you get. You can tell from the titles whether they are in Latin or in English. It looks like there are a substantial number of English works, though are large number are in Latin. The publication date listed for most of the volumes Logos is producing is 1864 (Hodges, Smith & Co.) which is more recent than some of the public domain ones available online that the Wikipedia page is linking to (Google Books and elsewhere), so maybe this edition has more in English than what I'd seen from the Wikipedia links. But for the works that are in Latin, I am fairly confident that that's all you're going to get -- no English translation alongside.
