Or did I just join the world of beta users? If I did, then I didn't ask for it, the program started all by itself. There were two downloads and now it's indexing, thankfully with only 12 minutes remaining.
This was previously released as the beta RC2, so now it looks like 4.2 just went Gold, which explains why you have got it!
I just got it too and I am NOT signed up for the beta channnel.
I also got some 930MB.
So it must be a finished RC release (Gold) only to be followed by service releases... or someone messed up and posted a beta to the stable channel.

EDIT:
Dave beat me to the post.
Yep, I got it too.....
or someone messed up and posted a beta to the stable channel.
Someone messed up by calling it RC3 on the stable channel feed, but it otherwise looks like 4.2 Gold!
And, yes, expect to get about 1 GB of resource updates!
Ahha
Thanks everyone, I wouldn't have been too upset if it wasn't the Gold, but this sets my mind at ease... indexing lasted about 45 minutes, which wasn't too bad. I actually found another thread on this topic, guess I should have looked around before opening up this one.
Blessings
What am I missing? My update is only 47.6MB [:'(]

That's probably 4.2. Install it and the rest will follow.
Help! I've got my answer - 885MB now downloading!
This is what my update looks like. What about the channel: beta thing should that have showed up? you guys mention Gold, What is Gold? is this Gold thing something i am going to have to pay for?
Thanks
"Gold" is just a software industry term for the production release of a version of software. Logos v4.2 went "Gold" yesterday, and everyone has been getting the update. Another term that's been used much more for this lately (especially by Microsoft) is "RTM" - "release to manufacturing".
Donnie
Thanks Donnie but do I have Gold since the beta thing showed up that i have underlined? i guese the question is looking at my post and the attachment do i have gold or still beta?
Sam, you have the latest, and your channel is set to beta.
Thanks Robert but do i wont my channel to be set to beta. i mean i have heard some bad things about beta causing your existing [4.1] to crash if you download it into 4.1. is beta something new just for sum to try out to get the bugs out of it and then it is upgraded to the real thing and I guess that would be gold. sorry to be a bother but i am totally confused about this

If you do not want to get beta releases, DO NOT set your update channel to beta. For a full description of the beta channels look at the wiki page here. If your update channel is set to Default (recommended), you won't see an update channel notification on your "About" page.
EDIT (added for further clarification): If your update channel is set to "Default," and you are using a "Gold" release, you will only get updates to that "Gold" release and any future "Gold" releases. If you do not want to get any updates, in Settings, set "Automatically Download Updates" to "No."
Sorry Richard but i am totally confused. I would like the latest updates that are bug free or i guess that would be the gold. i don't wont to try out anything because i am not qualified to know that much about the program. and i did read all about the wiki page you suggested above. where do you set the default? looking at what i have underlinded above in red what would you suggest i do to get the latest updates only that are bug free?

I don't know that this will get you updates that are 100% bug free [;], but to get only Gold releases type this in the Logos command bar: Set Update Channel to Default (should pop up as a suggestion as you type). If you are currently using a stable release (which you are today), setting your update channel to default, while using a stable release, means you will only get updates from the stable channel.
Richard, Peace to you!
*smile*
You are always very knowledgeable..... so, could you share what I saw once or twice about someone setting his update channel to ---- stable ???

The wiki article on this subject explains this in more detail. To read it click here.
Wow! Thanks! I missed that!
.... at your own risk, eh? .....
not for me! *smile* give me the good old default
Peace and Blessings

Suffice it to say that for all but those who do beta testing, this setting should never be changed. Those who have participated in the beta program at some point, who want to only get stable release updates should revert (or upgrade) to a stable release, and then set this channel to "Default."
Thanks Richard for all your help
You're welcome. Glad to help, where I'm able.
