Customizing Books in Library and/or exportable to Word/Excel

I would like to see a feature/option to:

1. Customize the list of books (w/authors) in the Library i.e. Like Bookmarks in Firefox

2. Export the list of books w/authors to a Word or Excel and/of PDF format so that we can make our own customisation if the 1st feature is to difficult.

Any feedback ?

Hi Gordon, welcome to the Logos forums!

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at in #1 -- could you explain what you mean? What sort of customization do you envision? In other words, what is it about how bookmarks in Firefox work that you'd like to be able to do in your Logos library? I'm not seeing the relationship between Firefox bookmarks and the Logos Library as a helpful analogy to understand your desire.

As for #2, did you know about the Export command? You can export a list of books to Word by creating a Collection of those books (either all books by a given author, say; using author:XXXX, or your entire Library using rating:>=0), then choosing Print/Export from the panel menu. Hi Rosie,

Thank you for your quick response.

I wasn't aware of the exportability of the books and will follow your direction regarding #2.

As for number one, I was hoping we could customise the books in our library into folders the way we wanted.

i.e. Create a folder called, History of Christianity, then have the option of putting any books we wanted into that folder. Then we could create another folder called Apologetics, or Jewish Writings, and put books into those folders that we wanted etc....

Just to have something to reorganise our books into something we can quickly look up as a reference that is suitable to our liking, so it can be accessed quickly.

With the feature that all folders can still be searchable from one search field.

Does that explaination help ?

Gordon, Milford answered before I got to it. But that's exactly what I would have said. You can make collections of books based on the categories you want to organize them into. Use category rules such as title:Apologetics OR subject:Apologetics to make a collection of Apologetics books. If that doesn't catch all the books you want in the collection, you can drag the additional ones you want in it one-by-one (and also exclude ones that got into it which don't belong there). Or use Tagging to mark the categories if they aren't readily discernible from the title or subject field of the book. Unlike folders, the contents of collections can overlap. And you can restrict your Searches to a particular collection. I use a tag "Shelf: xxxxx" that is unique (no overlap) so I can completely organize my library into the shelves I might store them in if I had them as physical books.
