Selected book in Library is jumping around when adding tags

I don't know that I would call this a bug, but it certainly is an annoyance.

I use a system of tags in my library.  Yesterday, I installed B8.  This morning I started tagging NICOT/NICNT and I noticed that after I enter a tag, the selected book jumps from what I am editing to the book at the top of the list.  This becomes rather annoying when I am trying to add multiple tags since I have to re-select my book for every tag that I want to add.

Hope this is clear enough to understand ...

I was going to post about this, but hadn't yet.

Whenever a tag is added (or a title is edited or a rating is added), the library indexes it.  When that indexing is done...it redraws the screen and resets the selection to the top.  I also find it highly annoying.

Especially when I'm in the middle of editing a tag, and it redraws the window--throwing my edit away. Makes me say "ARRRRGHH!".

This should not happen.  Please wait to redraw the screen until maybe another book is selected, and THEN, keep that book selected post-redraw.

I'll report this. ~ Thanks, Melissa

Update: I just tested this in Beta 8 on my system and I'm not able to reproduce it. I brought up Library to look exactly as you have it, and when I add a tag to a selected resource, the same book stays selected and the Library panel doesn't refresh. I'm not sure what the difference might be. Does this happen with any resource you tag?

I'm not the original poster, but I was trying to reproduce it, and I
realized it only happens when the library is filtered.  Once you edit something in the resource info pane, the "Updating lbrary" message appears, then the screen redraws when it is done, moving the selected book to the first item.  I reproduced it in beta 8 here:

Now Todd has beaten me to the Post ... [;)]

I think he is correct about the filtered aspect.  All I can add is a little video of supreme quality shot using my left arm as the tripod and my right hand operating the camera and the mouse.

I had fun watching your shaky video, thanks.  :o)    I was able to reproduce with a filter, although I was able to add 3 tags before it refreshed. I'll report it, though, in case there's anything they can do to change this behavior.

    Thanks,
    Melissa

Yes.  That's one of the problems...once you add a tag or a short name, you can continue to edit other things, and then BAM! it refreshes, right in the middle of something you were doing.
