Okay, we asked for a Christmas collection, and they gave us 4 times more than that and at some great prices.
I do have a problem, lots of desire, and no money!
For those of you with money these look like great packages at great prices!!! Enjoy them!
I will be rejoicing with you and giving thanks to the Lord. I am so thankful for the books God has allowed me to get and to use.
Your Brother in Christ,
Jim VanSchoonhoven
Yeah - it came up on my homepage. Even the cheapest one is too much for me.
Wish they had one around $100. Might be able to swing that if the selection was good.
Wow - $2K for the big one! Wonder how many they will sell?
Jerry
I wish there was an easy way to look at the collections and determine what books I already own.
Merry Christmas! I wonder if there is an efficient way to see how many of these books are already in your base package. I have Platinum and have seen some familiar faces in just a casual glance.
Ronald you were quicker than me.
I'm thinking that if you call sales they would help you figure it out, and take the per-book price of the collection ($1.99, $1.49, etc...) off of the total for the books you already own. Just guessing...
EDIT: See David's post below
This would be a pretty nice way to add quite a library of books to Logos, but they don't appeal to me and I already have most of the ones that do. Once again (as in the Library Builder set) they have taken series and divided them up across three collections.GRRR.
I'd rather see a 'Commentary Builder Set' with a couple full sets of commentaries in it, and then a couple of others, maybe a 'Languages Builder Set' and a 'Bible Study set'. But those are too logical, I guess.
Hmmm, this just coincides nicely with me locating data on the prior two Christmas Collections....

this just coincides nicely
This completes my conspiracy theory about those strange stars below peoples faces.

Yes, it proves that Logos marketing is stalking me. [:p]

There is an option for you Jerry - see here http://www.logos.com/Christmas You can build your own collection by the looks of it - be it 1 books or 1000.
I wonder:
1) If they will still be for sale after the 17th "ship" date, and, if so
2) Will the price will go up or be the same, and
3) Can they be put on a payment plan?
Steve R.
Has to be a payment plan or who in the world could afford it right now??
Call your sales person in the morning, they'll give you all the details.
Of course, after you do - you should post it here. :-)
Not that I can ever afford it, this just looks desirable:
I can't figure out the "Build your own collection" sale. The items that come up when you click on it are a mix of regular items, prepubs and community pricing.
And the prices on the regular items don't seem any different (at least they aren't 40% off).
This is crazy. The page opens to a list of books most of which are not in the list of 2010 resources. There is no discount offered, either. Is there a coupon code? The announcement hasn't appeared on my Home Page.
Totally confusing. I do think that the make your own collection idea is a good one, however. Right now the web site doesn't seem to support doing so.
I like some of the titles and from what I read I can get my own collection based on those titles. Supposedly I would get 40%off my entire purchase, but when I go to the check out section, the titles remain the same price (no 40% off), so I didn't click on the "submit order" button. I guess you have to call sales to get the titles at 40% off. Is there a coupon or password you need to enter to get the 40% off?
I believe the 40% off applies to the 2010 titles from the Master Collection only. The link does't take you to that list of books. I don't know how you get the discount.

It is confusing. I couldn't get it to work either. Many of the items listed are discounted, though some aren't, and like you say, some aren't even out of community pricing yet.
There is a coupon code, it should be included when you hit the 'add to cart' button - but it didn't discount the resource I added to my shopping cart to test it. I went right up to submit order and it didn't show any discount. Hopefully they get it sorted quick - though its another 10 hours til they open tomorrow.
I bet there is a code tomorrow morning as one of the 12 days of Logos offers for the 40% Build Your Own Collection. We'll find out soon!
Christmas 2010 Sale Christmas 2010 Collection 1 (250 vols.) Christmas 2010 Collection 2 (500 vols.) Christmas 2010 Collection 3 (1,000 vols.) Christmas 2010 Master Collection (2,010 vols.)
Wow!
Concur that a tool to compare current library vs Collection would be extremely helpful.
With deep regret, economic realities force me to pass on purchases right now. [:'(] Anyone need a CIO in a few months? [{][co]
Logos, please roll out 2011 for 2011 next Christmas...hopefully I'll have some disposable income saved up by then....[<:o)]
Well I was also going to detail how crazy this offering is on the whole. If you look through the 2010 titles you see partial sets instead of whole sets. Now that might be OK for a long commentary set, but c'mon, give one volume of a two volume commentary on Psalms? Give two of five volumes of A History of the Jewish people in the Time of Christ? Give the 4th volume of five of The Encyclopedia of Christianity? Give nine of 21 volumes of Horae.. (and it's even public domain!)? What kind of thinking is this??
Some titles are repeated. One I found is Barnhouse on Romans. The four volume set is listed and the individual sections are also listed (at least some of them). Guess you aren't getting 2010 volumes either.
C'mon people, This is $60,000 worth of resources....97% off. How can anyone pass on this "Deal"? [:D]
Well there are some good resources, but the incomplete sets plus what I already have would keep me from buying this even at the posted 97% off. I might bite on a few of the volumes for 40% off. We'll see.
It's a great deal, but portfolio users own most of the titles available. I am with Mark Smith it would be nice to see whole sets, but also those that are not available in base packages.

Let me get this straight. I pay them $2000 now, And another $5000 Later to complete the sets they have teased me with? [^o)]
I enjoyed looking back to these offers. When they came out, I went for the first set but decided that the second set had too much fluff. Going through the list again yesterday, I came across a few old friends but not as many as i would have thought.
I looked at one of the Christmas packages this morning and was actually struck by the advertising opposite, staff picks: NICOT / NICNT at $1600. Compared to the $1200 Christmas 3 package I wondered if a solid set like this would have more use than the miscellaneous bits and pieces in the package. It might even be worth asking Sales for a price on NICOT.
As it happens, I do have NICOT (but not at that price [:D] ) and that gets regular use, especially compared to anything in the old library builder packages.
So back to waiting for Day 6! (not that anything so far has had me close to reaching for my wallet there either, but then there is no rules saying that Logos has to make any offers at all, so thank you Logos for even trying to satisfy a fickle audience.)
Well as you have figured out by now, we have a big Christmas sale planned. The "super secret" landing page has not been released yet, but I see that at least a dozen or so people have found it and shared it on Facebook already! You guys are good! [:D]
We plan on announcing the page soon, and as you have most likely figured out, the reason some things don't make sense yet, is because we haven't actually finished the page, or launched the special. A little more patience, and you'll see the official release.
The list of 2010 titles that will be on sale at 40% off, will all be linked from the special page and will have the benefit of the sorting our new website offers. There will be no coupon codes required. We will automatically lower all their prices to the discounted amount. Just add them to your cart and get as many as you like.
The big Christmas collection Pre-Pubs are scheduled to ship on the 17th, and the prices will be the same then as they are now. The only reason they are on Pre-Pub is because we couldn't wait any longer to announce the specials, but the collection files were not built yet. With so many titles, it takes a long time to not only go over the list, but to double and triple check it and make sure the collection files are built and tested properly. It is a lot of work to put out such massive collections!
If you want a payment plan, please wait until the 17th and order over the web with the payment plan. Our phone-sales reps are going to be insanely busy with people who are most likely going to be adding titles to their carts one at a time, and handling upgrade questions, so please order online if you can.
Stay tuned for more information. We trust there is something for everyone in all these Christmas specials, and we hope all our hard work comes through with something that will work out well for you this Christmas!
I am at a loss to understand what I already have from the Christmas sets.
I'd suggest a set of special coupons to buy ANY quantity of books in Logos, 50PERCENT for amount > USD 200, 60 for USD 300, etc. :-)
As am I.
It's rendered worse by the fact that the alphabetical sort does not eliminate the articles - I can't even go down the list and compare it to my library in Logos.

hehe..Paul, They are loving you right now. I would be curious to know how you found the page. Hats off to you.
I sure would love to see the list compared to what I already own. I'll wait for the official launch to consider buying it. Then I'll cry after the consideration when I ask my wife for a spare $500.
NOW we are having FUN!! [8-|]

See there, I knew it would happen
Just when I thought my book on the conspiracy theory was done! Now I have to go back to editing. There's more to this "star thing" than I thought.

I am not Paul, but Logos posted it on the Logos Bible Study Homepage... right next to my devotionals for the day.
hehehe...oops.

Dan,
If possible, please make the items in the lists on the 250, 500, 1000, and 2010 pages links to the product pages. Even as links, researching the items in those lists will be a challenge. When it's just text in the lists - not links - it might as well be impossible.
Thanks,
Donnie
Well Dan, I don't know if we are that good. It popped up on my L4 home page around 8:30 last night. That is how I knew about it.

I read about this when I was using Google.
Actually David Gullick was the first one to post a link to the "secret" Christmas page, I had just happen to see the collection offer come through on the Twitter feed, and then edited the first post as the other collections popped up on the Logos website.

At least you didn't blow the secret about the L5 launch in January.
I just got an email saying that it has been delayed until Feb. 4th. Still on beta 9 for now.

Thanks for the Update!
Mine said April 1 - but they left off the year. Looks like the same is true for your note.
For me the biggest clarification is what about the books in the packages that I already have? This will be fun to see how this all plays out!
I hope it's soon, I will need time to master it before the rapture.
40% off one book to a thousand is a very generous offer. Way to go and thanks Logos!
Dan P, you guys are sensational. Thanks so much for some incredibly generous Christmas cheer. [:D][*]
I really would like that. I'm doing the dual notepad thing comparing...
One thing I noticed is some complete collections are included while others are only partial. Works of John Owen, for example. It would behoove one buying the Master Collection to add the missing volume at 40% off while available.
