Looking for a way to create my own docs as a teaching tool.

I am looking for a way to create teaching outlines that can be linked to scripture in logos. Would be a great way to put discussion content on a screen with our youth and use the navigation to quickly move from passage to passage in real time.

One of the ways that I use successfully is place the teaching outline (sparingly per slide) on Powerpoint. I simply link from the talking point to wherever I need in L4 to help the discussion along. The attention span of youth is not as long as that of an adult, as you already know, so linking to a lot of background material may not be helpful. It's quite easy to return to Powerpoint to continue to the next point.

Donnie, I have not used Logos for presentations yet, though I am intrigued by it. Related to that, Logos is developing (in alpha-ish stage) a software for worship that (if I understand correctly) will allow us to pretty seamlessly quote from our Logos software. So, in coming months (years? lol) keep your eye out for that, too.

I am not completely sure what your set up is, but you could use notes as a kind of outline, keeping your points/thoughts and scripture links in sequential order. Using a two screen system, have a floating window ("send hyperlinks here") of your Bible on the screen, and follow the notes on your laptop, clicking them as you go.

Or, for that matter, lol, create it on powerpoint and use your export to powerpoint option.

I use my laptop in the pulpit to teach from Logos using my notes in one panel and the Bible in an adjacent panel. Cross references and additional scripture are hyperlinks in the notes, allowing quick access. It's easy to click the back-arrow in the Bible to get back to the previous text. I like having the text large and easy to read from a distance for mobility around e pulpit. You might consider projecting this so students can see your teaching notes and Bible text or other reference books. I also wish I could do this on the iPad so I could walk around with it...maybe some day. I've been experimenting with controlling my laptop using the iPad and Air Display app. So far so good, without much lag time, and it's easier to click on hyperlinks than I expected. But it feels different than running Logos on a laptop, so I need practice.

Wow, great feedback! I currently use L3, so it looks like I have another incentive to upgrade. Currently, I do all of my study in Logos and build PowerPoint presentations -- simple outlines, highlighted passages so we can talk about key words, and maps are all part of the content I put on the screen. The intent is to make the Bible come alive to these Juniors and Seniors and to help them understand that anyone can study the Bible.

For near term, I am going to experiment with notes ----- and maybe an upgrade :-)

In my previous church using Libronix I inserted quotations from my Logos NIV in my presentations. It was a simple matter of cut and paste into the slides. It was the nearest thing to a link that I could manage. I used a IR remote control for the computer to change the presentation slides.
