I don't know if it's a problem others have experienced. When I click on a prayer item to expand it and make changes to it, L4 crashes. I tried that with different prayer lists with the same outcome.
It's not crashing on my system. Does it occur with a newly created prayer list as well? Can you attach log files generated after reproducing the crash?
I cannot make it crash on mine either. I tried several different prayer lists.
I am running 4.2a b3 now and the problem persists. Attached is the log file.2570.Logos4.log
Thanks. We'll review the logs.
Update: There's no crash information in the log. Does the crash occur with a new prayer list as well?
The problem has not stopped. I cannot create new prayer requests because as soon as I seek to enter information in the new request, Logos 4 crashes.
Are you entering new information in a new prayer in an exisitng Prayer List document? Have you tried creating prayers in a new Prayer List document, and do you get the same result? (I'm trying to narrow down whether the problem is with a particular Prayer List document.)
The outcome is the same whether I use an existing prayer list (any of them) or when I create a brand new prayer list.
Development is reviewing your log. I'll post again when I have more information.
Update: There isn't any helpful information in the log for development to decipher the cause of the problem. Could you list the steps you take to create a new Prayer List document and add a new prayer to that document. Then let me know if the program shuts down after that prayer is created, or waits until after adding a second prayer, and then going back and expanding the first one. Also, do you have Logos 4 open on a second computer when this occurs (in case it's a sync issue)?
Steps for a new prayer list:
Note: re-opening the prayer list file does not cause the program to crash. Clicking on "Add prayer" does not cause it to crash either. It's only when I attempt to enter information in a prayer request line that it crashes.
This happens not only with the first one that was automatically created when I created the prayer list but all subsequent ones as well. Deleting prayer requests does not cause a crash.
No, Logos 4 is not opened on another computer.
Update: I have updated to beta 4 and the problem remains the same.
Also, I have observed that when Logos 4 crashes as a result of this problem, the next time I open it, it reverts to how Logos 4 opened in that session. What I mean is that if I had the NASB Bible opened when I started Logos 4 and then I close the NASB and attempt to create a prayer request and the program crashes, the next time I open Logos 4, it's back to my NASB Bible opened where it was at the beginning of the previous session.
I don't know if any of this is relevant to the issue at hand, but just in case, I thought I would mention it.
Thank you for providing the steps and additional information. I'm waiting to hear from development what their recommendation might be.
It reverts to the last saved working layout - not one that was followed by a crash!
Development is asking if you have a similar problem with Notes documents?
No, I do not have the same problem with notes.
I will ask a support technician to call you to possibly connect to your computer for additional troubleshooting.
I thought I should post an update.
I was called by a technician who via remote support verified the problem and was unable to find its cause or fix it. He left me with some more time consuming options to explore. I did, to no avail:
The mystery is complete. I am not sure what else I can do at this point, perhaps call Hercule Poirot? For the time being, I continue to function with very limited prayer list functionality (a feature that I otherwise use daily). I suppose I could try to reinstall Windows 7 altogether, in case somehow a file got corrupted that is affecting Logos 4 but I don't look forward to attempting this and I think I will delay. In the meantime, if someone comes up with a less painful yet confirmed solution, I'd welcome it.
A complete reinstall of Windows 7 has solved the problem, whatever it was.
Thank you for persevering with this, Francis.
Did the machine come pre-installed with Win 7 or was it an upgrade from Vista?
Originally, it was a Vista computer but when I obtained the upgrade I had installed a clean copy of Windows 7. This is what I have done this time (no vista remains).
