Logon without restarting Logos

When I use Logos at the church office, I do not have internet access so I have to work offline. If I leave Logos running and move to my home, how can I get Logos to connect to the internet? I know I can shut it down and restart it, but is there an easier way?

Provided Use Internet = Yes then it is best to restart to receive downloads/updates.

Perhaps we can get some confirmation from Logos developers - if Logos has Internet use enabled and the computer (I understand, you use a laptop) is in an offline environment, does that slow down Logos very much? (With all the sync operations, updates, etc.)

When the sync arrows turn into a yellow sign - after that Logos stops trying to find the servers or not?

No, after a failure Logos keeps trying to find the servers every couple of seconds, which is by design (they figure if there was an error it's likely to be temporary and you want to get reconnected ASAP to make sure your stuff is synced), but I think it is excessive. You shouldn't have to set Use Internet to NO when in an offline environment temporarily. You might forget to turn it back on again when you go back to your normal online environment and then be puzzled for a while about why you weren't getting updates. Maybe it should retry two or three times and then slow down the rate of retrying to every minute and then even slower if it continues for an extended period of time.

I understood that Gary's computer was working offline, which is an option in the Startup menu when you start L4 offline! L4 then does not try to connect to the Internet.

Yes, I understood that, too - sorry for not clarifying. I was just thinking that he could work always online, without having such a problem that he had.

It will try to sync whenever you change a document & will still try periodic updates (metadata, resource updates). It didn't appear to be trying the connection every 2 secs (nothing showed in the log), but it recognised Network Availability & changed status from True to False after c. 15 minutes (it changed from False to True more quickly). There is certainly some background activity, but it wasn't noticeable.

When going from offline to online a change to a document, or clicking the yellow 'Sync' triangle should restore network awareness. But I would still restart L4 to initiate resource/software updates.

Sorry not to respond sooner--I've had a busy weekend and just got back to check on this. Let me explain a little more what I was trying to do--I may be missing something obvious. I was using Logos on y laptop at my office--no internet access so when I start it up it opens in offline mode. When I finish at the office, I put the computer in hibernate mode, come home and open it back up. Logos is still running and still in offline mode. As I'm reading, I notice a typo than I want to report. But to report it I have to shut down Logos and restart it just so it can go online. Is there a command you can use from within Logos to get it to recognize that you now have internet access?

Not from "work offline" mode. Put it into online mode at home then hibernate/sleep, use at office, hibernate and bring home again (explanations given earlier).
