Yesterday I bought the following two volumes from the Writings from the Ancient World Series:

Prophets and Prophecy in the Ancient Near East (Christmas sale: $14.98), and

Ancient Aramaic and Hebrew letters (Christmas sale: $12.98).

I was hoping to read some Aramaic this Christmas, but after downloading the resources I discovered that they didn't contain any of the original texts. On page iv it says:

This
resource contains the English translations and introductory material
from Ancient Aramaic and Hebrew Letters. The texts have been
placed in a separate resource.

When I click on the link to the other resource I get a new window saying that I don't have a license to view this resource and the Logos website tells me that these resources (LLS:ANCARHEBLETTRS or LLS:PROANCNETRS) are only available as part of the complete Writings from the Ancient World Collection.

My question is: Should I have known that I was only buying a license to view the translations?

The product page for these resources doesn't mention the fact that these books have been split in two seperate resources:

http://www.logos.com/product/7339/ancient-aramaic-and-hebrew-letters-2nd-ed

http://www.logos.com/product/7338/prophets-and-prophecy-in-the-ancient-near-east

On the old website I would probably have checked the name of the downloadable file, but this isn't possible on the new website.

Especially the description of Prophets and Prophecy raises false expectations:

"These valuable primary source materials are made accessible in
contemporary English, along with transcriptions of the original
languages
, indexes, and an extensive bibliography."

If I had known this I would have bought another book instead. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with the other resources I bought in the Christmas sale and I'm looking forward to 2011!

There doesn't seem to be any separate books with the Original Texts in the collection, so let's hope this was just a mess-up when they split it up.

    Otherwise...

"Each letter appears alongside the original text in square script."

"These valuable primary source materials are made accessible in contemporary English, along with transcriptions of the original languages"

I'd say Logos owes you the OL files. Not just money back, but the actual files. That's what they've promised you; that's what you should have.
