Can I transfer files/documents into pdf (like books for example) so I can read them with my kindle?

The way to create pdfs is to use print/export, and print to one of the many free virtual print drivers that create PDF files (I use PrimoPDF) once you have installed one on your computer (it looks like a printer to other programs). Note there is a 100 page limit on what you can print at one time, and this is based on output format size so you can play some tricks like formatting in multiple columns etc. to get more on a page.  You can get more info by watching Mark Barnes Unofficial Video on Print/Export, which has specific discussion on printing to create PDF documents.
