So that (for example) when reading a commentary that uses original language words without transliteration, the software would auto-transliterate (in-line or on hover or failing either of those in the context menu perhaps).

If you have a information window open (under tools) if you click on the Greek text is will give you a definition in your preferred lexicon.. does this help you as a work around? You can select which lexicon is used for the information window as well.. one that is concise with transliteration...

Good tip - hadn't used that before. It goes some way to help. It does not seem to work for all Hebrew words though (using Keil&Delitzsch as text).
e.g. at Gen 24:10-28 there are three Hebrew words in that section ... the first and third give no information but the second one does. This is probably something to do with the word form in use or that I have limited lexica(?) - Mounce Expos. Dict, Abridged BDB, DBL, Strongs Lexica etc.!
Works well in NT - but only if the Lemma form is being used.
I agree that Greek is easier for this to work with than Hebrew. If you select an Analytical Lexicon like Leham's for the information window, does this get you something on Greek other than Lemmas? I have not tried it... As for Hebrew it is just difficult, so perhaps your suggestion will get some attention.
