Bug: unwanted items are showing up om my home page

I do not have anything selected on my home page because I do not want anything on the home page.  Still, I am getting items on my home page.

Here are two screen prints.  The first screen print displays the "book of the day"  and a scripture reading that is not linked to any reading plans or the lectionary.

    I tested this tom and it seems that I get the same results. The one bible verse range and the book of the day.

    Tom ~  The preferred Bible and Book of the Day excerpts are by default always available on the home page. I've submitted a request to consider making those optional like the other content; however, it may remain as designed.

    If the preferred Bible is going to come up, why not open to one of the reading plans that I have (preferred the reading plan for that day), or to one of the readings from the preferred lectionary texts.

    Still, if I turn off all the options, then I should still see nothing.  I simply do not want anything on the homepage.
