i have logo 4 on windows 7 but thinking of buying a mac , do i have to buy logos 4 again for the mac , if i was to use fusion would using logos be slower on the mac , can i use windows 7 through fusion and quickly use logo while on the mac asin the same time as been on windows 7 , would all the latest macs run logos from windows through fusion very easily and fast , to put my logos 4 owindows version on the mac directly do i have to but the mac version .

Individual questions:

Buy software again — no your license is good for both Windows and Mac
Running Logos Win via Fusion or Parallels (my personal leaning is to Fusion) can be seamless running under OS X. Criteria are:
1. Would you have Mac machine with enough resources (given that you would be running Windows under OS X). Can be done though.
2. Would you feel more comfortable with Windows version of Logos
3. The Mac version still has little bit of feature parity to catch up on and — for some people — performance is not fully yet up to par with Win version
Overall is it worthwhile moving to Mac? Definitely.
Should you wait before moving to Mac — no, sooner the better to switch
Can you have transition running Logos Win till you run Logos Mac? Yes.
Would be disadvantaged? No, not at all.

You will enjoy the Mac experience, that's for sure!

No, the same license applies to all computers and all operating systems that you personally use (Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPod, whatever).

Since I have never used a pure Windows machine, I can only give you an educated guess. Most likely running a virtual machine will cause some speed decrease, but it probably won't be severe.

As I stated above, you already own a license for L4 Mac. Be aware, however, that the Mac version is not quite up to par with L4 Win. It is catching up rapidly, and we should expect to see parity soon, but at this point there is some frustrating (to me) short comings. On the other hand, there are many on this forum who use L4 Mac exclusively and productively. My main complaint at this point is with Notes. They are way behind the Windows version.

If you got a current MacBook Pro, 15" would be adequate would not necessarily have to be 17", with fast processor (mid-range i5, if you can afford the i7 processor obviously better) and enough RAM (no less than 4GB, more better) faster HDD 7200 instead of 5400 then Fusion running Windows 7 (with eye candy like Aero Glass disabled) should run fine.

The person 'Smiliing For Jesus' is the resident forum Mac hardware expert [;)] he could advise more.

Logos 4 is resource intensive - benefits from fast processor, graphics, and disk. Larger screen weighs more, but can display more Logos resources - suggest visiting an Apple Store to look at several models.

Noticing several models have 5400 RPM disk drives - recommend upgrading to 7200 RPM or faster. Configure to order new has faster hard drive options.

Speed obviously, not saying it would be 'show stopper' difference, but any speed you can get is beneficial.

On the point of performance, do you have to have a notebook machine? The speed (and price) difference between desktop and notebook (desktop faster) is definitely there — same applies to any machine and/or OS. Just that if you are on a budget, and portability is not absolute requirement, then you can get better spec for lower price by going for an iMac. Of course up to you and your requirements.

Searching eBay for Mac Book Pro 7200 returns many offerings - recommend comparing prices with Apple plus disk upgrade. Apple refurbished laptops include same 1 year warranty as new (box has refurbished label - otherwise packed same as new). Standard classified ad caution: caveat emptor (let the buyer beware). Personally chose to buy computers from vendor with hardware warranty.

I've been running Logos 4 on Fusion / Windows 7 for over a year and I have been very pleased with the performance - the latest Logos release appears to be faster than before. Will make the move to the Mac version soon...as soon as I'm ready to commit the time to do so!!!

Most people have answered the majority of your questions, I just wanted to add as a Logos4 user on a 2010 macbook pro 15" (i7), I have found Logos to run quite nicely. I have not tried to use it under Parallels but the speed difference between the windows version and the latest beta mac has grown much smaller. If you need virtualization for something beyond Logos you may be happier running Logos in Windows, but you might be surprised by how well the mac version works. I know there has been a few people claiming that their mac version runs faster than windows, but therese people were using older machines I am sure since even Logos admits the mac version is not optimized yet. I hope you enjoy your experience on the mac.

PS: You can always have both mac and windows version installed at the same time on your machine but i don;t think you can share the same files, but then again even if you have several gb of logos files duplicating them will not kill a horrible percentage of your hard disk.

Current stable release of Logos 4 Mac is missing some features available on Windows: Handouts, Printing/Exporting, and Sentence Diagrammer. Handouts feature is being revamped. Current beta release of Logos 4.2a has some Printing/Exporting along with Sentence Diagrammer - anticipating stable 4.2a release later this year to nearly have feature parity with Windows (only missing Handouts).

Just echoing a few points. I use a laptop (first edition core duo 2.13GHz 2GB Ram , 17" MBP for use in classes and offsite. Runs LOGOS fine both natively and in Parallels (Win XP). It is definitely slower than my iMac but a lot lighter. I keep both the win and mac versions up to date. I used to use the windows version most of the time but now run the native version. It improves battery life by 20-30%, and that is basically the biggest difference.

Regarding which laptop to get, It seems any one of the mac books will do. My old eyes appreciate the real-estate available on the 17" MBP, I have trouble with the small screen of my netbook but that is a matter of choice.

Yes. All discs that ship with Logos 4 contain both the Mac and Windows versions.
