At this time, is it possible to import a PDF/Epub into Logos, I know you have to convert the files into something that Logos can read, does anyone know how to do this?
It is not possible to do this right now. Eventually Logos will release something they call the Personal Book Builder which should allow you to create a Logos usable resource from a pdf for other text file. It is on the list for being finished this year but we don't know when.
No...Logos doesn't read those types of files and Logos is a closed system in that regard.
But...there is something coming (I don't know when) that will do what you want...it's called PBB (Personal book builder)
It allows a person to compile a book and integrate it into Logos.
Like I said....its' coming but I don't know when. The best I can guess is this year.
thanks both of you for your responses, I had read in a previous post about a PBB but no one explained exactly what it was. I will hope that this comes out soon, not being able to compile books into Logos is one of its biggest drawbacks at this time.
Mark and Robert, I am curious about the PBB....If I compile a PBB 'book' of PDF's.... integrate it into L4.....will a L4 search include the PDF's in the PBB book, or will I have to search the PDF's in the PBB book separately?
The PBB for Libronix 3 would allow you to search within the personal builder books natively, and the results would be displayed right alongside all your other books. THere was a problem in that the format on the PBBs was different than the normal Libronix books. So things like highlighting and notetaking were not possible. This is obviously a severe limitation that we heard from Bob Pritchett back at the beginning of the public release of Logos4 would be remedied in the Logos4 release.

Provided you unpack the PDF content it will be searchable!
I must not have been paying attention - we've been told that we'll be able to use a PDF as the basis of a PBB?

I probably missed something in that case, but I was more concerned with the terminology of " PBB 'book' of PDF's" as if the PDF file was internal to the PBB.

I should have attached my note to Mark's post ... higher up he was the one that implied that we'd be able to convert PDF's to PBB's. Sorry about that Dave. Mind you I'd love to be able to go PDF to PBB but I've heard nothing to make me think we will ... only that we might possibly perhaps maybe be able to.[;)]

No worries - we're all going by hope, wishes, speculations and rumours! I think there will be deep disappointment if Logos do not provide an import from PDF.

I didn't mean to imply that the PBB will allow the import of a .pdf, since none of us know if that will be possible. A .pdf could be the starting point of a PBB. It might require no more than using the clipboard to copy and paste the text in.
I'd vote for a .pdf importer. [Y][Y]
OmniPage for Mac claims to be able to translate pdf files into rtf. I have never made a serious attempt to do this, so I don't know how well it works. Is that available for Windows?
Yes OmniPage for Windows exists and works fine.

Then, perhaps that will be a way to get pdf files into PBB. We'll have to wait to see what PBB will be.[^o)]
I note there are a number of free online pdf to Word converters also.
I had OmniPage years ago to do OCR. Gave that up pretty quickly. It was OMNI-mistake. Sort of like my early attempt to use Dragon Non-So-Naturally Speaking.
so is there a GOOD OCR, I have often thought investing in one, but I am way to hesitant about actually purchasing.
