Search for bring WITHIN 1 word increase

The results include this odd hit in Biblical Archaelolgist: Volume 47:

A bit of investigation shows that the word "increased" shows up in the long footnote that pops up when you click on Ice at Mari in that resource, and "bring" shows up near the end of the long footnote that pops up when you click on In Praise of Myself: Yakhdun-Lim Builds a City.

This is not what the user searching for nearby words would want to find.

I don't like that either but there is the option to search "Surface Text" rather than "All Text" ie. do we want "All Text" to mean All Text - Footnote Text = Surface Text?

Of course Bible Search, by definition of "All Bible Text", does not include Footnote Text.

No. I would want to find text in a footnote if the two words were right next to each other in the same footnote. But two words are not truly next to each other if they are in two different footnotes. The algorithm should not treat the contents of two adjacent footnotes as being actually adjacent to each other, regardless of how close the note markers are in the surface text and how many words the proximity operator used (even if one word was at the end of the first footnote and the second word was at the beginning of the second footnote). In my mind, the contents of two separate footnotes are in a completely different linear space and it makes no sense to measure the word distances between them by measuring the word distance in the surface text.

Proximity operators do not work within a footnote - their word distance is the same (bound to the surface text) ie. you ANDEQUALS pregnant finds the two words in a single footnote of NET bible. But the phrase "you are pregnant" is found within the same footnote!

I agree - it can be found by selecting Footnote Text if desperate! It also is meaningless to find hits in surface footnote eg. birth³³ (which can be found by selecting Surface Text + Footnote Text if needed!).
