resource update crash

Logos on my iPad tells me I have 510 resources to update. When I select this message I cannot individually select resources to update, but if I select update all I will get a message says this or that resource cannot be updated and then it will look as if its trying to update the others, but will either time out or simply crash... on restart - back to the origianl 510 need updating. What should I do?
