Anyone know how to get out of the beta channel?

I am in, but I don't think I want to be a tester. I need my software to be more reliable.

You will have to uninstall the beta and then install the release version. Because you are going backwards, you can't preserve your indexes to save time. I am not sure, but my guess is some of your resources can also not be used in the release version. Unless someone says differently this means letting Logos redownload your resources and then reindexing your library.

    http://www.logos.com/mac/support/install  for the install routine.

There are only two ways out.

    1) Wait for this particular beta to be finished and then type "Set update channel to stable" into the command bar.

    2) Completely remove L4 Mac from your computer and reinstall, but I'm not sure that even this will work.

What problems are you having with the Beta? I find it to be rather stable. Describe your problems and post logs (see the first link in my signature for instructions. The second link describes a utility that will automate much of the process). Someone, somewhere in the world, will be ready to help you.

Or if you are prepared to stay on the beta channel until the next stable release, Cameron explained how to do it here - http://community.logos.com/forums/p/26388/194608.aspx.

That particular window of opportunity has passed but the process he outlined would allow you to drop out of the beta programme when the next stable release is made available (but I don't know when that will be).

EDIT: Sorry, Jack got there first!

So if I go with Jack's #1 suggestion, how do I know when this particular beta channel has ended?

Watch the Mac Beta forum. First there will be at least one Release Candidate—Usually 2 or 3. When all those bugs are squashed, the stable version will be released. I have no idea how long that will be. The present beta cycle is now concentrating on optimization.

  • Wiki page has Beta program information, including FAQ => http://wiki.logos.com/The_Logos_4_Beta_Program#Frequently_Asked_Questions

Last entry in FAQ has "set update channel to default" - continue to receive Beta updates for this development cycle, once 4.2a released to stable channel, default automatically ignores future Beta's.

If use "set update channel to stable" - next update should be 4.2a stable release.  From Mac Beta forums, do know next Beta update includes some fixes for known problems, likely include more feature improvement (e.g. printing/exporting).

So if I type "set beta channel to stable" in the command box, I will stop receiving beta updates at the next stable release? Is that what I'm reading here--I was a little unclear.

Command "set update channel to stable" - stop receiving 4.2a beta updates; next update is 4.2a stable release, followed by future stable releases.

Command "set update channel to default" - receive 4.2a beta updates, 4.2a release candidate(s), 4.2a stable release, followed by future stable releases.

WIki page has Understanding update channels including some examples and RSS feed links.

Don't forget that if the Beta has changed the format of 'notes', 'clippings' etc then reverting to the stable version may render these files unusable.

By far the safest option is to stay on the bus until the next stop.
