Open a resource with lots of paragraphs of text (this doesn't seem to happen if a heading or verse is at the top of the panel) and position yourself somewhere in the middle of a block of test. Now resize the window so that the panel changes width. The text position changes a little bit. This can be quite disorienting, especially when the width is increased as this generally moves to a point later in the text.

Note that the first word displayed in the after is the seventh word in before. I realize that it is probably the paragraph formatting that is responsible. Maybe if you backed up a line so that all the text that was visible before remains visible after would help. And light up one of those star things at the position that corresponded to the original first word.
The typical scenerio that I run into this is changing between profile & landscape on a tabletPC (done by simply turning the device 90 degrees). I think have difficulty finding my bearings again, especially if I was in the middle of reading the text that disappeared, which I often am because if I'm going to switch orientation, I'll do it while I'm near the top of the page since the amount of text contained on a profile and landscape page are often quite different.
