Question on Merrill C. Tenney's John Commentaries...

Hello all!
I have a question: Is Merrill C. Tenney's commentary on John about to come out of pre-pub the same as the one written by him on the Expositor's Bible Commentary? I was going to order the "new" volume coming out, but I noticed on my EBC that Merrill C. Tenney wrote the one included in volume 9 of the EBC series.
Any feed back on what the difference between these two will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Douglas

D. A. Carson says this:
The predecessor to Morris’s work in the NIC series, by Merrill C. Tenney (op), has not been superseded by Tenney’s further contribution to EBC (vol. 9 bound with Acts as a separate paperback, £9.99/$15.99). Unfortunately this latter treatment is so thin, dated, and sometimes even naive that it can safely be given a miss.

So in essence what you're saying is that I already have a thin, dated and sometimes naive version so I must refrain from getting another one? [;)]

Or put another way - if you have NICNT already, i.e. Morris on John, you don't need Tenney! Depending on what level you want, i would highly recommend Pillar NTC on John (Carson author).

Thank you Jonathan and the rest! I already have Carson's PNTC and so far is the best I have on John, but I got curious about Tenney's 2 volumes and wanted to know what the real difference between the two are, but seems to me like they're kind of the same, except the format they're written on.
Either way, I will not be getting the volume that's on pre-pub, I have no use for it.

The NIC volumes would be far more in-depth than the EBC one the two series were written for different audiences. since
