Logos Notes and Highlighting are planned for iPad => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/12807/179058.aspx#179058

For reading PDF files, App Store (accessible via iTunes) has many PDF readers, including CloudReaders.

Wow, it is exciting brother! thank you, How is the usage of battery? When should I charge it? for how long`? Is it recommended with the adapter which comes with it or better  to buy extra? Is it possible to read PDF notes offline?

As far as im aware (Not 100%), you need a third party app from the app store to read PDF.

Apple's iBooks app does a pretty nice job of reading PDF's. iBooks can be downloaded free from the App store through iTunes or straight on the iPad, but if I recall correctly, I think it comes on the iPad by default. So using iBooks you can easily read PDFs on the iPad.

You will want to use iTunes with your iPad because iTunes will keep all your iPad data backed up and iTunes is an easy way to download new applications for the iPad. It can also be used to manage the iBooks you have on the iPad.

As for charging the iPad, you can see in my screenshot that the top right of the screen has a percentage with a little battery indicator. That tells you how much battery charge is remaining (my battery here is fully charged). I generally keep my battery pretty well charged, but just keep an eye on the battery indicator and charge it if it gets lower than you like. You can use the iPad while it is plugged in to charge. The iPad can last several hours on a single charge.

Do I need any hardware extra to buy?

Nothing else would be required. The iPad will come with a cable that can be used to charge the iPad from a wall outlet or charge it from your computer.

For my iPad I also purchased the Apple iPad cover and it has served me well thus far. I also bought the Twelve South Compass iPad stand. It's a good, sturdy stand that can hold the iPad in a variety of positions and angles. I also got the Apple Bluetooth keyboard since I use Pages and some other apps. The on screen keyboard works better than I expected, but it still isn't as good as an actual keyboard. Finally, I also got an extra power adapter so I could have a longer charging cable. I leave it one in my office to charge the iPad while I'm using it at the office.

If you are considering a Kindle and a convertible notbook/tablet, but might not be able to afford both, why not consider getting only the latter and run the Kindle for Windows software on it, with which you can download and read Kindle books without the Kindle hardware.

Logos System Requirements shows base package sizes => http://www.logos.com/support/techfaq - largest package is 8.05 GB

A 32 GB iPad has available space of 29.04 GB for applications, documents, photos, music - option to download most of Logos library for offline use (some resources not available for iPad and some resources fail to download).

Kindle application also available for iPad (along with Nook).  Convertible notebook/tablet would have similar issues reading in sun as an iPad.  Over holidays, Barnes and Noble sold lots of Nook Color (e-reader tablet running Android - not know if practical for upcoming Logos Android app - same capability as iPad).

Thanks for helpful advice, Rosie and Smiler!

Rosie, it's the iPad I'm thinking of dropping from my wishlist.  The Kindle I definitely want, for reading in the sun.  And it's not expensive.  I want the Kindle basically for reading Logos books plus various PDF books I have on computer.  Sounds from the forums as if Kindle is easier on the eyes than iPad.

Smiler, the link is very helpful.  I think I'll try to play with an iPad  in UK before committing myself.  I could get my sister to bring me one when she visits, d.v. and volcanoes permitting, in April.  AM looking at

Acer Aspire 1825PTZ 11.6" LED LCD Touchscreen Notebook, 3GB, 250GB,

price comparable to iPad, good memory, good battery life, acc to reviews.  With that plus Kindle, I might decide I don't need an iPad...

My problem is that, on top of vast expenditure on excellent Logos resources recently, I have a tax bill this month, and an annual medical insurance bill mid March.  Plus further Logos prepubs this month and next.

I really wouldn't recommend getting the 3g version unless you know you want it and need it. 3g requires a separate data plan which adds more cost each month. It is flexible in that you have no contract - you can use 3g one month and cancel it the next - but again, unless you know you want it, it's not really worth the extra expense. For myself, I just use the 32gb iPad without 3g and it has served me well. There are enough wireless hotspots around that in general if I want to get online I can.

If it is listed on biblia.com then you can download it on your iPad. And the 32gb iPad is plenty big enough to hold all of your books with plenty of room to spare.

I would recommend downloading any of the books you think you might use. There is no limit to how many you can download, and even with an internet connection it is still faster to download the books than to try and use them over the internet.

Thank you Chris for the clarification, the 3 G was not my intenstion, I have ordered the 64 DG WIFi,At first I was told they would ship it to me, but today they sent me e-mail and also by telephone, that the 64 was not available in their store, instead they would offer me 32 DG ,3g for no extra price, the internet is Flat rate all inclusive I don't have to pay extra,Is there any payment which I have to pay ,for the data you have mentioned. Regarding the internet ,here in Germany ,if it is flat rate ,I don't have to pay extra.I have agreed and the ipad is on the way to me,but if there is any disadvantage as you have mentioned ,which I am not aware of let me know.Thank you Chris May the Lord bless you and others who have contributed in answering  to my questions. Still I need your advice,

May the Lord bless you in every aspect of your life according to the measure of His Riches and His Grace,Amen

I didn't realize that you live in Germany and I'm not sure how things might work there. Still, I expect there will be a monthly charge to use the 3g service. I'm not aware of anyone offering 3g like that for free.

To get an iPad with 3g requires just the purchase charge. You will not have to pay anything extra (beyond the purchase price) to have an iPad with 3g capability. But to *use* that 3g you will have to pay some provider a monthly fee, it will probably not be free.

A quick Google search turned up the following site with gives rates for monthly 3g usage in Germany (O2 and Vodafone providing it):

    http://gigaom.com/2010/05/10/ipad-data-plan-guide/

    Also:

    http://de.o2.com/ext/o2/wizard/index?page_id=16377;category_id=;state=

Looks like the price ranges from €10 to €29.95 a month.

I can't read German and the Google translation of the site is a little rough, but if they have assured you that you would not have a monthly charge to use 3g, then that sounds good. The 3g for the iPad comes bundled with other services for which you pay a monthly fee?

Chris, I haven't understood this one,I haven't got from apple store, I have it from a mobile agent ,which has to do with them internally.I have to pay, fixed price for the ipad ,and there is with it also telephone flat rate from the provider ,which is selling , since I have telephone(mobile) already, they gave two options either mobile telephone or SMS, I chose SMS, So that means What I have to pay monthly is fixed price. But I don't know as I haven't understood you, if there is something I have to pay apart of my provider, since I don't know what ipad needs. software, program etc.I haven't understood what you have said ,that comes with it. except the SMS from the provider ,which is absolutely inclusive with monthly price. Is there any software or other means ,which makes me dependent to use the ipad for Logos 4?

    Blessings in Christ.

This is what I mean - you are buying the iPad from someone already providing you services, and 3g service for your new iPad will come as part of the services you already receive from them. So, no, you shouldn't have to pay anything extra.

    Tes,

It is well worth it to get the iPad.  You will be able to read over a thousand of your books, but not all yet.  No NIV, for example.  Logos is constantly adding more resources, and many of the best are on iPad.  They are putting all the publishers will allow on iPad.

No, you can't run the full Logos 4 program.  But for reading your books, it is fantastic - better than paper in my opinion.  A thousand times better for extended reading than a computer.

I was not disappointed.  I got the Apple iPad 32GB, and have downloaded over 1,000 books.  I have plenty of room left, even with everything else I wanted to run - audiobooks, music, a few movies, etc.  You will have plenty of room with your iPad 64GB.  For me, the 32GB is more than big enough.  I could easily put 2000 Logos books on it - based on what the first thousand used.

Don't have an iPad, do have an iPod. I can specify what syncs to it from iTunes and what doesn't. If your iPad fills up I'm certain you could pare down what media files sync to it.
