Helping Logos with Headings

I was in EBC vol.8 (studying Matthew) and found a sub-heading titled Midrash. Out of curiosity, I did a search on All Text in Entire Library to see if this would come up under Look it Up which is like TOPICS. No.

It DID however show up in the general listing on the second page of searches under TITLE. I tried RANKED and again on page 2 is the result I was testing to find.

Under both searches, TgLex (the Targums) bloated the search results with usless references to a bibliographic reference that was not really relevant at all. Can I avoid this without all the effort of hiding these reaources one by one? Is there a more precise way of searching perhaps another option in place of All Text?

BIG QUESTION? Here is a Headline of sorts and Logos had many other hits ranked higher than it. What if there were a way for us users to somehow TAG and copy links of topic headings / sub-headings to a common data base. To report these to Logos or add them to this user accessible data base so we could in effect help Logos to find these more easily in future searches - to the benefit of all users?

Ron, currently in beta testing is a new feature where you can search in "Large Text" which should pick up most headings and sub-headings in all your resources. You can either select it from the All Text dropdown, or prefix your search string with largetext: with no space between it and the search string. It should work on quoted phrases as well, e.g., largetext:"Martin Luther".

This is a stopgap measure until they can complete tagging all the resources with Heading tags for all the true headings, a task which I don't think they'd be open to having users help them with, given their past reluctance on such things.

It's not that reliable an attempt, we need headings tagged. As you can see, unfortunately, "Midrash" at that section in EBC does not qualifiy as a Large Text heading:

Do you not have the following Dictionaries? Admittedly, the Logos Controlled Vocabulary (LCV) is being enlarged but it also occurs in other dictionaries like Vine's, Holman Illustrated, Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church.

I hid those resources a while back, but the Topic section can be more useful if you purchase one of the listed LCV dictionaries. It's Parallel Resource list will direct you to others.

Thanks for the tip Rosie. This is going to be very useful in finding documents (e.g. pseudepigrapha, church fathers) which I know should be in my library somewhere but sometimes take a long time to track down in exactly which resource I can find them. Using this syntax cuts out all of the irrelevant search results.

Thanks - I do have those resources and I do get hits under that section. My big issue was about a test I did to see where the topic I already found would show up in Search results. I got my answer. And Rosie's response was also helpful for future reference till Logos finishes (will it ever be finished with all the new resources being added?).

I wanted to say that I resisted hiding those Targum Resources ... until the other day. Now, I have to say I'm so glad I took the time to do that. It helps to not have to wade through hits that I won't use. My searches feel lighter ... more "fleet - of - foot" if you will [:)]

I misunderstood what you were attempting. The large text search field is somewhat unpredictable as it depends on font size, so some "large" looking text in a heading is not large!

I wanted to say that I resisted hiding those Targum Resources ... until the other day.

My next project is the 69 "Earliest" NT's (I will keep TENTGM).

hmm. I have an idea. What if I have a resource that has not been totally logos-ized and want to create large text using a Visual Filter? I'm going to test to see if that works.
