The best way is to install it to your new computer the same way you did on your current one. To do that use or original install disc, or go to your Logos Account page and click on Orders. Then scroll down to "Order History" find your purchase of Logos4 and click on the order number (not the name of the order!). That will take you to a page with links to the installer programs for Windows and Mac. Plan to give it time to download and index everything.
An unsupported way is also found here: http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers

If I do the basic installation from the install disk (I've ordered an up to date one), how I then get my vast number of resources I've bought in addition. Can I do something like Scan on my latest resource folder backup? I'd prefer not to have to download more than necessary. I would be moving from Vista to Windows 7. (If it happens??)

If you log on with the same Logos user ID you used when you purchased those resources, any missing resources will download automatically (with the possible exception of some very, very old, 3rd party resources).
If you prefer not to download, follow the instructions provided in the Wiki for an unsupported way to do that.

Thanks! I have the Wiki instructions. And if I should have problems on a new computer (it would be a convertible notebook/tablet for travel), I can presumably uninstall and start again in the supported orthodox manner. I shall still have my old (present) laptop with L4 working OK. The new computer, if I get it [*-)] , will have time to download other resources at its leisure [;)]

If Method 2 should be problematic then uninstall and use Method 3. If that is problematic then the new laptop will have to do some more work![:)]

My personal advice, having installed on about 8 systems (review unites I keep a month and send back) is just download and install. Log in and then go to be as it downloads. Wake up and let it install new downloads and leave it and go to work. When you get home it will be done.

I shall be moving around England and may be with people who have a limit on the amount of GB they can use. I may get a dongle, again with a limit...

Kevin, could you give me some advice on respective merits of Acer Aspire and HP Touchsmart convertible tablet/notebooks? They look the most compatible with my budget and needs (not too heavy, not too delicate, portable, reasonable memory). I have Logos4 on a Toshiba Satellite with 3 GB RAM and get along OK with that speed.

Which Acer Aspire model?
My experience with Acer laptops is the keyboards are a little lacking for serious typists. But other than that they are good computers. The HP convertible now is the tm2t and is a solid computer but as a tablet it feels quite heavy and is hot. If you can wait I expect HP will be coming out with an AMD fusion version which will make it cheaper and lighter and not as hot. But that is a guess.

I have used method 2 shown in the link that Richard posted a number of times. That is the easiest way I have found to install onto another computer and I have never had any trouble with it once done.
I have a netbook that I keep a stable release on. Each time the Beta goes to RC I remove the SR of L4 from the Netbook and install the new RC. From start to finish it usually takes about a half hour or so to install. Most of that time is spent waitiing for the file transfer over the usb connection between the computer and the external HD.

Thank you Kevin and Fred. I do appreciate the helpfulness and goodwill of you and so many others in the forums - who needs facebook when we have Logos forums?[;)]
