Highlighting error

I highlighted a piece of Scripture and accidently hit the question mark symbol on the way out. I tried to highlight the question mark and hit "erase" and nothing happened. I tried to key in the "undo" keys and nothing happened. I cannot figure out how to erase that big ? by the passage that I highlighted. It looks ugly there and I don't want it. Help please, I tried to figure out every way I knew to get that "?" out of there.

You have to highlight the same area you highlighted the first time and then hit erase. You can't just highlight the question mark.
