ABOUT THE EVANGELICAL EXEGETICAL COMMENTARY

I have pre-ordered the EEC but I am curious about the whole thing. I do realize that after it ships if I feel dissatisfied I could request a refund but I was wondering if we might get a bit of a preview, say How Psalm 1 is done.

Dan,
Me too! I'm excited about the series but I am hoping for some preview material - and I have a clear hope because it was mentioned by Dan Pritchett in this post:

Dan Pritchett said:Remember, this is uncharted territory. The commentary is being written right now, but it doesn't yet exist. Obviously until we get further along, we will be unable to post sample pages, prefatory material, an editorial introduction, or anything else from the EEC. Quite simply because none of the volumes exist yet. Several are in the final stages of editing, but none are completely finished yet. Reviews don’t exist either for the same reason. Be assured that the moment this material is available for you to preview, we’ll post it.
I would suspect that we're actually getting close to some sort of preview, but then again I'm not sitting in meetings at Logos either. :-)

This sounds like a perfect use for the 'free book preview' functionality. I think it'd be great to be able to have a read of a large chunk of the volume before committing to the whole set!

I am sure we will eventually get to see a preview of a few pages at least when it comes out but I would hope to see something before so as to take advantage of pre-pub pricing, I realize that it will still be fairly cheap with only one volume released but even if it jumps $50 that is still a lot more to pay.

Me too. Preview, that is. Any word on a subscription or payment plan?

The way I read the product description page, when the first volume ships the price for the set goes up to $799.95. Since it is only sold as a set, it is an all-or-nothing proposition. ( $700 to $800 for a set with no preview )

Here is a journal article on Psalm 87 written by the man authoring the Psalms commentary.
http://faculty.gordon.edu/hu/bi/Ted_Hildebrandt/OTeSources/19-Psalms/Text/Articles/Allen-Ps87-BS.pdf
After reading this article I got really excited. Unfortunately, there are not many up to date exegetical commentaries in Psalms that are evangelical. I'm excited. I hope Dan gives more detail on payment plans.

Kind of like "buying a pig in a poke," isn't it?
Anyway, I put in my order shortly after it was announced.
It will be interesting to read the critical reviews in publications like Bibliotheca Sacra and Review of Biblical Literature - which, unfortunately, won't appear until long after one has irrevocably purchased the set/series.

I'm on the hook too folks and waiting patiently. We'll get previews before it ships and we can easily and freely click cancel up until that moment.

Only problems I have are:
Zondervan Bible Reference Bundle 2 (47 vols.)
shipping 2/1/11
AND
Anchor Yale Bible Reference Library (29 vols.)
not so small ($1500)

Well that is just it I have already culled some items from my pre pub section. I have been seriously considering removing the AYBRL because even though there are several of the works i know i would use often I am not sure if the price is justifiable for my usage.
