How do I search for . . .

I realize that I only know about 1% of what LOGOS is capable of doing, so this is probably a very basic question, but how do I search for something like the following?

 

Today, I wanted to see what any of my resources had to say about Jesus' brothers and sisters. But, i couldn't figure out how to do it

I wasn't sure either, but I tried searching my entire library for "brother of Jesus" (with quotation marks) and got 1,359 results in 1,003 articles in 328 resources (in 12.29 seconds). "Sister of Jesus" returned 133 results in 120 articles in 80 resources (in 1.85 seconds).

While that probably doesn't exhaust all the possibilities, it's a pretty good start.

On the other hand, it may give so much that it seems a bit overwhelming. But if you sort the results by Title, you can begin to focus on the kinds of resources you want to focus on (commentaries, Bible dictionaries, journal articles, etc.)

Someone else probably has another idea. There's often more than one way to get to where you want to go with Logos.

You may also want to consider using the biblical people tool. This will not only give you the visual of the family tree graphs, but will also give lists of dictionary articles and make suggestions for additional searches. Also keep in mind that as you are viewing the tree graphs, if you click on an individual in the tree, the list of articles and scripture references will change to match that person.

A Basic Search of All Text in Entire Library for Jesus AND (brother, sister, brothers, sisters) is simple and effective. For an explanation of the terms used see http://wiki.logos.com/Detailed_Search_Help

I did this search and it seemed to narrow the results to discussions related to this question:

Jesus NEAR  siblings

The searches using brother, sister etc...were too broad...too many hits to wade through.
