How to I Find a specific verse in a resource?

I know I read it somewhere, but can't remember where. But how does one do a search in any given resource for a specific scriptural reference? Thanks in advance--Steven

Your posting that wiki article encouraged me to study it again, and I found it "enriching"! *smile*

That link opens up the right page but I find those links often don't get you to the right part of a long page on the wiki. I had to go back up to the top of the page and then click on the "Searching for Bible Verses and other References" link there to get to the right section. And it's a lot of stuff to wade through.
Short answer: search for a passage using this syntax: <John 3:16> (it's shorthand for <bible = John 3:16>)
(complete chapters and ranges of verses work fine there too, e.g., <Matt 3-5>)
And choose the resource in question in the "search in" dropdown:

Thanks to all of you. And Rosie, thanks for the short-cut. Appreciate you all!!

These aren't the same are they?
I get 2500 more hits for the "shorthand" version than the full syntax

I thought they were, but indeed you're right. I tried a search for <john 3:16> ANDNOT <bible = john 3:16> and all that turned up were places where a verse range spanned across John 3:16. So I guess that means the <john 3:16> syntax will include ranges that span that verse and <bible = john 3:16> will not. The latter must only find exact mentions of that verse. (I haven't done an exhaustive search through all the search results to verify this theory, though.) I think the shorter syntax is more useful, and it's easier to remember and quicker to type anyway.

Didn't think of that!

Depends what you're searching for....

<John 3:16> is shorthand for <bible ~ John 3:16>
The ~ allows for verse ranges to include the searched for term
= requires an exact match
