Currently community pricing has some of the greatest  resources of information from past generations at prices that are way below what they are worth, we can work together and greatly increase the value of our search results in many different areas by having these Encyclopedias in our resources.  A very small amount of the material will be out dated but the vast majority will never go out of date.  For the best articles that are the most up to date on subjects of course buy the theological journals at fraction of the cost for the information they contain. But let's jump on these deals while we can and save on great resources for doing all kinds of research at the greatest possible prices.

Do you want to see how the Jews or Catholics or another group of people see a subject, now for a small amount of money this information can be easy to be find.  I have several of these resource and having them in Lofos would greatly increase their value and usability!  They would be of greater value now then ever. Talk about savings now resources with list prices of 1000 dollars can be had for 30-50 dollars or less.   Here are some of the sets,  These are full of information on persons, places and things!

http://www.logos.com/product/8496/the-century-dictionary

Many of these can be found on the web, if you want to sample the articles, google them and check out the articles.  Many contain articles on subjects that you will not find any where else.

In Christ,

Jim

    Great work Jim.

These are truly amazing bargains that I simply couldn't pass up.  Thanks for pointing them out.  Gotta love those pre-pub prices.

Thanks, Jim! Those are the most underappreciated community pricing titles out there. I've been in on all of them for at least double what the likely going price will be. I hope more people jump on the bandwagon so we can see some of these move up towards 100%.

Rosie, I do not think the average person has any idea how much valuable background information is in these older books.  We are trained to think, newer is better, when sometimes it is just different.  I know these books are good resources, even if they were only in pdf files, I can hardly wait to see them in Logos, and at prices I might still be able to afford, it would be a dream come true.

I also think many folks don't know that at different times of history, different areas are being studied and so they fail to see that in some areas these older resources can be as good as or even better than the up to date new resources like ISBE, Zondervan, or AYBD.  And the scholarship in many cases was very high.

If a person throws these in a collection with the modern Encyclopedias they will have a broader range when it comes to searches and more depth, and the cost is unbelievable.

Talk about a good value for background information!

Thanks to all that help by jumping on the bandwagon on these.

    In Christ,

    Jim

I could not agree more and I have been on board with these titles.

Thank you for trying to find more bidders for these! (And, yes, I'm on board for a couple of the others as well, though for low bids.)

I, too, have gotten in on all of these.  They are excellent.  I already have the schaff-herzog and cyclopaedia in other formats and I highly recommend them for research!  Adding them to L4 for these prices would be great!

Here is one more way to look at these sets.  I currently own two of these sets in pdf format and they are very good resources, two of the others I have used on line and the are very good resources, and the two that I have not seen are two sets with very good reputations.

So what do we have going on right now???

The Jewish Encyclopedia 12 vol   50.00  8200+ pages

New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge 13 vol   30.00     6200+ pages

Cyclopaedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature 12 vol   50.00   12,000+ pages

The Catholic Encyclopedia 17 vol  30.00    13,200+ pages

The Century Dictionary 12 vol    30.00     10,000+ pages

Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics  13 vols  30.00  10,900 + pages

To sum it up you have:

6 sets    79 volumes    60,600 + pages   for  only 220 dollars at the current bid prices and we can drive that price down if we can all work together.

Any of these sources by themselves would be very helpful for doing background research, but put them all together you can not only do background research, but also see the different perspective that each group has on each subject you search.  This turns this package of resources into a super value at a price I can hardly believe.

To me, a person mostly disabled and on a very limited budget, a deal like this is a dream come true!!!  Well it hasn't come true yet, but knowing it can is exciting.

I am stuck at home most of the time and can not work, but I am working on my DTH degree to help me at least keep my mind busy and resources like this would be very helpful in my studies.  For those looking for other good deals on great resources don't over look the Theological journals, they are a great buy and in Logos they are more useful than when I first used them over 35 years ago, and they are as up to date on topics as you can get.  They are very useful in my studies, and the more you have the better it is.

So far I don't see much movement on these resources, but I want to thank you that are helping to spread the word about them!!!

    In Christ,

    Jim
