Problem with Merge index

I am on beta 5, and the last 3 times I have gotten new resources, I have entered Merge Index (via a button on my toolbar), and it does a first time reindex. Today I downloaded a 872KB resource, and my system reindexed fresh the night before last with nothing new since. I click on Merge Index, and it is now doing a full first time reindex!

Is this a bug? Very frustrating to get surprised by a full reindex in the middle of the day...

My understanding from the release notes, is that Merge Index is no longer a needed command, since indices are automatically merged from now on.

But I could be wrong.

Hmm. I wonder what that means. I do see on my laptop, it got the resource, but I did not dare click on Merge Index, but there is no supplemental index even so.

So the questions are, (1) does Merge Index just do a Rebuild Index? and, (2) will there never be a Supplemental Index that we will see after indexing completes?

That is unexpected behaviour. Did it also rebuild the Bible index (check the date/time of the files)?

I have observed (in the logs and the index folder) that the Library index is automatically merged as per the Release Notes for B5; so there is no supplemental index after a download. This is also confirmed by the absence of the New Resources section.

You don't need to click on Merge Index anymore as there should be no supplemental index ever again. The index is automatically merged now when you download new resources and index. So you can remove that button from your Toolbar. Apparently they haven't removed the old vestigial "merge index" command but now all it does is rebuild the entire index, so it's pointless.
