Sug: need to mark threads as answered or solved

I was just reading another forum (gasp) and I love how so many of them are able to mark questions as SOLVED or ANSWERED. Alas, we cannot and hence we keep revisiting threads needlessly from time to time.

Plus, imagine how nice it would be to sort for all answered, or all unanswered posts. Note that answered is distinct from replied to.

So .... I took a look at some of Telligent's site and found this example where they appear to have the capacity to mark a query as answered or not.

Any chance we could find that in place here?

At the time we were implementing the forums we looked at reskinning the Q&A pages, but at the time it wasn't considered needed. Looking back I think we wish that had been done, but it will take a bit to get the Q&A pages into the current skin. (You have no idea the number of embedded html tables those pages used to make the Q&A boxes!)

I've added this to the list of forums related projects I have, but I doubt it is going to be one of the first things I get to.

Or you could just run the forums on whatever skin works. :-)

Maybe an up-to-date version of the software does away with all the embedded tables and uses friendly div/css-based layouts. You're probably feeling like an upgrade, right? (In the middle of one of my own - yuck!)

If I were starting from scratch on some kind of Q&A-like forum site, I'd heavily consider the Stack Exchange platform (www.stackoverflow.com being the first site that used it and the site I frequent, but there are lots of others now).
