Crash!!!!
Beta 8 seems to crash frequently on startup. Today, each time I've attempted to start the application it's crashed. I've attached logfile for your review.

Can't start up program at all now. Program starts momentarily and just as it gets pass the sound introduction it crashes.... Logfile attached.
I see in the fourm that beta 9 has been released. Is there a to access this new release other than through the application? Perhaps by doing so and installing it I can bypass whatever the issue is in beta 8.

James try holding down the CTRL key to force the sign in promt at start up. Keep CTRL key held down until sign in apears. It should allow you to start up on a blank layout screen.

Why would you use Beta 8 when not only Beta 9 but also "RC1" version is available?

Mine crashed when I DLed the last version, then it worked. Now, today, it crashed and continues to crash every time I open it.
It is the latest version to DL. Control Panel says it is 4.0.31923. I have XP, SP3.

I've been out of town for about a week, Beta 8 was the last version I had downloaded... didn't even get a chance to try it out.
Ian, thanks for your comment about the CTRL key, I discovered that option while reviewing some earlier posts and was able to start L4 without the home page. Now I'm downloading RC1, I think. When I click on the "About" option I get a report indicating L4 but no indication of a beta nor does it say RC1. I'm assuming the update is skipping beta 9 and going straight to RC1 -- a valid assumption?

Used the blank screen version to confirm it's Beta 9.

Yes, It doesn't say RC1, it just says Logos 4. I think you are getting that. There has been also a few downloads of resources after the installation of that version. I am indexing right now.

Yes Daniel I found that I couldn't open B9 Home Page without it crashing - it is / was a known issue. I stopped using the Home Page for that reason.
With access to B9 you should be able to update to RC1, which is what I have done and I am currently having no problems.
Hope that helps

Yes I would agree. It looks like it "jumped" updates and if it doesn't say "Beta" then you apear to have RC1 up and running.

Ian, thanks for that. This may be a dim question, but... how? How do I get it to upgrade, update, upwhatever? I clicked around and found nothing, and it didn't prompt me.
Thanks.

It only checks once a day for an update now. You can type "update now" in the command box to force a check.

You can type "update now" into the command box - sorry for the delayed response.
I hope all is working now

Is the issue still happening in RC1?

I used the command, did some DLing, and now it's 4.0.3.2059.
So far, no crashing. But haven't done anything in it, yet.

George, I have been unable to open Logos for two days. I have beta 9. I'm sure this is a silly question, but what is RC-1?
I just found your instructions on downloading a fix. It is currently downloading 1007.3 MB. What is this?

Nah, not silly at all. RC="Release Candidate"
Programmers work through Alpha's usually in house, then beta's in a broader community, but when you Hit RC stage you're effectively saying, "I think this might be the one..."
When you move from beta to RC you know the end /beginning is near.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.
