after buying the NIV, the book still has not appeared in my library. Automatic update is on, and when commanding it to update now, it says that i do not have any available. Any suggestions?

Which NIV (84 or 2011)? I ask because there's been some issue with the NIV 2011 on the Mac version. I'm a Windows user so I don't know what the resolution to that was or will be.
Have you tried restarting the program? Often this is needed and in some cases the license servers take a while to update.
The issue with the Mac version of NIV 2011 was resolved a couple of weeks ago. I'm surprised you had to buy it though...I thought it was part of the free upgrade to the KF base package.
