Mouse Click Required for Parsing/Info Window?

I am fairly new to Mac so maybe I am missing something simple...

I often like to work with Keynote or Pages open while preparing for a sermon. I thought that when I did this on Windows 7 with MS Word that I could move back and forth between Logos and Word without actually having to click on the Logos window to get information to show up in an "information" window (i.e. parsing, lexicon, etc). However, with the Mac I am always having to click on the Logos Window first before I can hover over a word and get my lexical information.

Is there a way that I can enable this? Or am I remembering the windows version wrongly? I am able to scroll with my magic mouse without clicking, but no other functions work unless I first click the window.

I haven't observed this much since I usually keep Logos in another space anyway, but by default OS X apps do not respond to events (such as a mouseover) when they are in the background. There are ways to code an app to respond to background events but it looks like this may not yet be implemented in Logos 4 for Mac.
