[:)] For example, as far as I can see none of you have mentioned St Basil the Great: On the Holy Spirit, which definitely exists, since I'm holding it in my hand right now. Can't find it on St Vladimir's webpage either, though, so I guess it's out of print. And if there's one that's out of print, there's probably more.

Yes, they do allow books to go out of print frequently - as do the Cistercians who also publish much I like. If they would only publish in Logos, they wouldn't have to go out of print. Maybe we should flood the publishers with a crowd of would be buyers chanting (synchronized e-mails, of course) No OUP; No OUp with an occasional Logos forever thrown in.

Maybe someone should put together a list with e-mail addresses to all the interesting publishers with few or no books in Logos, so that we could do some 'flooding'? And web links, so that we can easily check out what to ask for. And a sample e-mail or two to make it really easy for people to actually get it done, and not put it on their ever-growing to-do-lists.

Amazon seems to have some not mentioned earlier. What I sent to St. Vladimir's Press and Bob:

Dear Sirs;

A number of Logos Bible software users have requested that more Orthodox texts be offered by Logos. At this time, the market for books in Logos format is highly skewed towards the Evangelicals. However, we have noted that Patristic offerings seem to be very successful. At the same time, those of us familiar with the Popular Patristics series see that books frequently go out of print. Several of us active in the Logos forums see a real opportunity for Logos, St. Vladimir's and the users. Would you consider putting the Popular Patristic series into Logos?

I have already heard back from both parties. St. Vladimir's wrote in part: "I am not personally familiar with the Logos Bible software, but this is an intriguing idea." Bob P. wrote in part: "We're certainly open to it; we'd love to have more books from many perspectives. I'm copying our head of publisher relations." Sounds to me like there's a good chance that the idea will at least be explored.

Note I took a very concrete approach rather than stating I'd like everything from St. Vladmir's[:D]

In other words: your earlier attempts to suggest this series has probably not resulted in Logos contacting the publisher. Keep nagging! [:D]

Just don't be too modest. We need Lossky and Ware as well, which I believe have been published by them (among others). And just to promote a little Swedish influence, let me suggest Lars Thunberg's Man and the Cosmos. The Vision of St Maximus the Confessor (or the longer, more scholarly, version Microcosm and Mediator. The Theological Anthropology of St Maximus the Confessor, though the latter isn't by St Vladimir's, but by Gleerup's)

The first that come to my mind are Paulist and Ignatius, SCM and Sheed & Ward, but it's far too middle of the night here for me to look for links now.

(Though my favourite publishers are Artos and Karmel. You'd love both of them, but unfortunately they're both Swedish only as far as I can remember. [:P] -- And now I had to go to Artos website, where I found two new Lossky's and what I believe is the first von Balthasar title in Swedish. Where am I going to find time and money for those? [:^)] )

CP is generally out of copyright. But my thought was that small presses can't afford to carry large inventories - the result of a tax law change years ago. But if they make it available through instant publishing, e-books or Logos, they don't have the inventory expense and can have the books available. They get the profit without the expense.

I'd like to see more also, not just in the ANF and NPNF volumes. I was hoping perhaps that the prepub on the Patrologia Cursus Completus, Series Graeca would be a good start for looking at some of the works not listed in the ANF and NPNF. But I see it hasn't generated that much interest as of yet.

So I am also thumbs up on your suggestions.

This morning I read a piece in Lumen Gentium. Looking at two of the footnotes I found 7-8 Patristic references. Only one of them was linked! Now, I didn't try to find the others, so it is of course possible that Logos may have missed to link a reference or two that should have been linked, but I fear that it is more likely that we simply don't yet have those texts in Logos.

Considering that both the Vatican II Documents and the Catechism of the Catholic Church are full of such references, not being able to get to the actual texts is kind of a bummer. [:'(]

In other words, please place your orders for this set quickly, so that it goes into production, and so that Logos understands that we want the rest of this series on prepub, in order to fill at least some of the most conspicuous holes in Logos' Patristic offerings.
