Folks
I Just purchased this DVD and followed the instructions to install it in my HD. It just installed Libronix. How can I make my Logos 4 recognize these resources?
Thanks!!

Peace, Harbey! *smile*
Under tools in Libronix, synchonise your licenses with the Logos Server.
(It is the second item under Tools - right after update)
Wait a few minutes. Close and open your Logos4, and it should download.
If there is a problem, you may type Update Resources in the Command Box, but that's hardly ever necessary.
If any problems persist, come back to us here!

Next time you start L4, it should synchronize and discover the new additions to L3. Give it some time, but if it doesn't, then synchronize in L3 and then restart L4 and synchronize in L4.

Folks,
First thanks for your kind responses to my question. But now, the plot thickens... When I tried to Syn in Libronix it says that I need to be an administrator in order to do this action. Furthermore... what do I do with the long serial number printed in a sticker attached to the CD case. It seems like a license key but I have not been able to find a place in which to enter it. I suspect this is important but I do not know how to use it.

Dear Deaacon H
If you do not also have the former program, (Libronix 3) installed, you need to call customer service to get this icense recognized by Logos4..

By far the easiest thing for you to do is to call Logos, give them the number, and they'll unlock the resource for you.
Next time you plan to buy something that's on a CD, I suggest you talk to or e-mail a sales rep and ask him to have the CD delivered to him instead, so that he can enter the number directly and then just throw away the CD. That way you save yourself trouble, delivery time and shipping costs. I have a distinct memory of recommending this to you before, in one of your earliest threads.

I was recently told by a Logos sales rep that this is no longer permitted by Logos, it was an underground thing that actually got exposed through these very forums. I believe sales reps can get in trouble for doing this now, so you may want to save someone some trouble and just call Logos when you get your CD and ask them to unlock it.

I sincerely hope you're wrong, since that would mean I could no longer buy anything that's CD only -- which is definitely not in the interest of either me, Logos or the publisher.
As for 'underground': weird 'underground' considering a) who my sales rep is, and b) that my invoice clearly says "please drop xxx at front desk for yyy - thanks!", which means that at the very least sales, those who handle the physical products, the front desk, and accountancy were all aware of it. Doesn't sound very 'underground' to me...

Logos is moving away from CD only products anyway with all publishers. There are only a few left that I'm still waiting for (mostly the Fortress Press publications) which will eventually be converted to downloadable.

I know, but that doesn't help anyone right now. In fact, the more of us that become aware of this, the harder it will become to sell off those last CDs...

Company's sometime require Logos to produce CDROMS for their own distribution purposes. While I know this isn;t the case with all of them I can;t see several of them stoping anytime soon.

us that become aware of this, the harder it will become to sell off
those last CDs...True,
but at some point the stock of those last CDs will not be a limiting
factor. The material costs for them are minuscule (pennies per CD and a
bit more for the packaging), so they could just decide to trash (or
recycle) the rest when/if the publisher comes on board with download
only distribution. But as Dan pointed out, there might be some publishers holding out because they don't want Logos to control the distribution. But Logos is definitely working on trying to convince the remaining holdouts and negotiating sharing the revenues fairly between them. It's just so much simpler for users to do the download method with Logos 4.
If it's any consolation to you, fgh, here's the current distribution of products by delivery method, and you can see that the overwhelming majority of them are available as downloads:
Now it might just be that some of the products you've been wanting are among those few remaining ones that are CD only (mostly Lutheran stuff -- Concordia Commentary and Fortress Press; SESB 3.0; some Spanish works; and some larger bundles that should be easily convertible to download since everything inside them is separately available as download only). You can browse the list here, and see if it's really that much of a hardship for you that not everything is converted to download yet. And just hold on; I expect it won't be that much longer before those things are available too. In the meantime, satisfy yourself with the thousands of other things you can choose from that are downloadable.
