Microsoft released the IE9 Release Candidate last week. Installing it will cause Libronix DLS 3 to stop functioning correctly. We have identified two separate bugs so far and reported them to Microsoft:
We strongly recommend not installing IE9 RC on any systems with LDLS3 installed.
Thank you Bradley!
Yes, important to know. Thanks!
I was wondering what was going on. I uninstalled it and things began working again. Is there a fix in the works? My windows update keeps bugging me to update IE.

Do these "bugs" affect the passage guide and the exegetical guide? I have noticed that I have to run these reports from the home page. I have also noticed that L3 has been locking up that last couple of weeks,
More reason to hurry up with PBB reader and Sermon Importer so we can do away with L3 all together.
That still wouldn't be sufficient to do away with L3.
Agree - L3 is a very good program and it works very well for most people who use it. Both L4 & L3 have their uses

Very true. People will be using L3 until notes in L4 become as useful as they were in L3.
Guess this is one of the more frustrating things for me right now. For the record this post is not in a negative attitude or mindset but more in a frustration for seeing what Logos could be at this point. Yes I do realize that I do not have the inside information nor do I run the company and Bob and family are making the decisions that they believe are best for the company. That said.....
1. It has been known that with V3 being highly dependent on IE that any change or update in IE could or would break functionality in V3 that still has at least three major features (Sermon File, PBB, Notes) that are not available over a year later on V4. So not only do users still have to operate two programs for full functionality, but they can't update their OS to the latest and greatest unless they wish to completely lose major features.
2. I don't know about anyone else but for this user, I am excited that Logos is expanding into other areas, Bible Study Mag (which I love and need to renew) and Proclaim to name two. BUT I would be a whole lot more excited if we had a fully functioning complete with all major features in V4 before putting more energy into different departments and projects. Logos Bible Study Software is what put Logos on the map and has built it, so that it could expand, I'd hate to see Logos fall into the trap many businesses have and have so many new projects that the foundation of the company gets lacking attention.
3. Another area that IMHO is not worth further investment is library.logos.com and biblia.com... The Apple App is incredible and I can't wait for the Android app! However both mobile sites are slow and clunky and honestly will never compete with a Native Client App. I have given up on the mobile web sites and will just wait on the Android app, because there are other free Bible apps for Android that are much easier and quicker to access than the websites. Sure I don't have access to my library, but with the time wasted accessing the websites in comparison to a Native App... Well time is valuable...
4. I hardly bother with the forums other than a quick look every once in a while to see if there is any news on Android, Sermon File or PBB... Reason being forum doesn't allow posting from IE9 and posting from mobile browsers is also inconsistent. It would be nice to be active in the forums again, but I shouldn't have to keep multiple browsers around to be able to post... From my understanding it is not a hard fix and neither is setting up a mobile forum app as other forums I'm on with much less manpower and volunteer help have these features up to date. From my understanding setting up the mobile app for Apple and Android based systems is a snap and allows easy access from all those mobile devices for reading, posting and editing in the forums.
I really hope there are fixes around the corner, because if V3 is no longer an option unless I do not keep my system up to date, Logos loses a lot of value to this user. Also please spare the "blame Microsoft" comments that some may have. It is not up to the OS to keep countless programs compatible, it is up to the software manufacturer to keep their product in sync with the OS. You'd think that considering many people paid a decent price for the Sermon File and PBB features that they would have received a high priority in getting updated to V4 knowing that MS always updates its IE and the impact it has on V3. Why leave so many users open to losing out on features they paid for without releasing the product with the update?
It just seems like so much more could be done by concentrating on one product at a time a assuring that it is complete with features and not lacking...
Well just my opinion, though I know I am not alone....
For the most part Frank, I agree with you.
I use Google Chrome and have no problems with L3.
Reason being forum doesn't allow posting from IE9
I agree that posting from mobile devices is a pain, but you can post from IE9 if you put IE in 'compatibility mode' for community.logos.com. It's the 'broken paper' icon to the right of the address bar. The setting will be remembered, so you'll only need to do it once.

I agree that it would be very beneficial to allow mobile reading/posting of the forums, and frequently get frustrated that I can't. But it most definitely isn't a snap. It's only 'a snap' if the forum software supports it, and unfortunately the software used here (Community Server by Telligent) doesn't. It's not impossible to achieve without out-of-the-box support, but it's not trivial.

Yes, the second bug mentioned prevents the toolbars at the top of the guide windows from functioning.
I might add IE9 RC screws up your ability to search for topics if you use Libronix. I discovered that it screwed up my ability to upload files to my websites. After I uninstalled IE9, the problems stopped.

I am assuming that y'all will have your patch in place before IE9 becomes part of the OS. Because we all know that just because y'all reported the bug that does not imply that Microsoft has to fix it.
See http://community.logos.com/forums/t/30926.aspx for how to fix the incompatibility with IE9.
