Pre Pub.....

I looked for a while in the archives, but just didn't quite get my questions answered.

I purchased the "Learn To Do Word Studies" DVD's. I've never ventured to anything Pre Pub before, and I just don't get the language of how things are progressing.

Can someone give me a brief explanation of what these progress bars mean. Or send me to a page with an  explanation or a legend. I realize it's probably not an exact science.

Pic #1 is what I just used  "Quick Buy" on.

Am I right in looking at the green bar that it is extremely close to shipping? It looks like it done.

Or is orange better than green??

Thanks in advance.

    They are in this order:

"Under development" means they already got enough pre-orders to cover development costs and so they have begun working on it.

"Almost there" means they are close to getting enough orders.

"Gathering interest" means they still have quite a way to go to reach enough orders.

The last step is when it says something like this:

When it still says Under development, all we really know is that they've got enough orders to cover their costs -- or that they've made a deal with the publisher that it's going to be published anyway. It may mean that they're actively working on it, or it may mean that it's waiting in a queue for the right people to have time with it. It may mean that it's fairly close to shipping, or it may mean that it's very complicated and will take a year or more to finish.

If you go to this page, scroll your way down and then click and scroll your way through the following pages, you will see how the bar successively changes.

I just recently noticed the "Quick Buy" option. I hope that's because it's a new option rather than because I'm not very observant. I suppose it means you are charged immediately whereas with "Pre-Order" you pay when it ships. Or, does it mean you can skip the development phase and just get it now.[:D]

It has been there for several months.

"Quick Buy" allows you to pre-order using your existing c/c and address information. Other than that, it is the same as "Pre-Order". In either case, you are not charged until the resource ships.

As Jack mentioned, Quick Buy just allows you to skip all the steps provided you know your billing information is up to date.  I use this option when I sign up for pre-pubs just to skip all the screens.

I don't know about last step! This is when they have a bit of fun and just as you are getting ready for the download they move the date again...

I take the final step as when you get an email telling you it is ready and you will be charged.

sometimes it's  beendays after the download should have happened that they've moved the date....... [:'(]  They're getting better now - moving the date days or more ahead of time, which my instant satisfaction syndrome finds less traumatic  [;)]

As I count it, there are still two steps after that. That email you're referring to comes a few days before the product ships, giving you a chance to update your credit card info if necessary. The next step is when it moves off the pre-pubs page onto the shipped products page and the price jumps up. (That means it has shipped.) The final step is when you get that little notification popup saying there are new downloads ready for you. Then it is finally there for you. There have been times when a product ships on a Friday and some of us don't actually receive the download until three days later. I think it's because of the time it takes for them to process all our credit cards.

Everything that's been said above is correct. But to answer your question as succinctly as I can, the green bar does not necessarily mean that it is extremely close to shipping. Usually, the green bar marks the point at which Logos start creating the resource, and this could still take several weeks if not months.

(And the "Quick Buy" is the Logos equivalent of Amazon's 1-Click purchase.)

Thank you all very much, I understand much better now. Even things I forgot to ask. Such as what if you need to update CC info.
