Syntactical searching 'Opentext' in Logos 4

HELP!

I need help with entering morphological tagging within Logos 4's morpho query field. I bought program new w/o any previous libronix training. I bought the Video disc for Syntactic searches in Logos 3, NO Logos 4 Syntactical search video or manual available. Morris manual does not cover Synt searches, per Logos customer serv/sales. I learned basic concepts on how to run searches yet the Logos 4 interphase is totally different. Libronix morphological interphase had a simple check box query to enter morph tags. Logos 4 has a open field for keying in YET when typical morph tags are entered the program does not recognize them a NNSM tag within a syntactical constructed search yields Nom, Acc, Gen Dat results. How worthless is that?

Hello Lee and welcome to the forums.

In L4, morph data is always preceded by a @ character.

For example, searching for morph terms in the syntax search, you'd just put a @ in the box and then choose all of the applicable terms that apply from the pop up dialogue box...

You can (if you know what you are looking for) also just type the terms in...i.e. @NNSM (noun nominative singular masculine....

MUCHO Graseeoso! for exactly the help I needed. I used the correct search tag and it immediately narrowed the results correctly. Thanks also to Kevin Becker for providing some great links for designing searches correctly. I'm afraid you won't get rid of me that easy though. I hope my future queries can offer actually stimulating troubleshooting challenges for you.

Heres my last dumb question. I've tried to specify an anarthrous PN by clicking on 'word - modifier -specifier - is not part'. When I do this I get Zero results - I delete this designator and I get both articulized and anarthrous PNs. What am I doing wrong?

It's actually a lot easier to diagnose syntax searches if you take a screen capture of your search query, save the image, and then upload that with a post.
