Windows 7 custom install -- reinstall Logos 4?

I'm about to move from Vista x64 to Windows 7 x64. I've been running Logos 4 since it was released and originally purchased the DVD media as an upgrade from Logos 3. I also have a number of books such as the Word Commentaries which are no longer sold but are part of my library.

Most of the threads here are about upgrading to Windows 7. I plan to do a custom install due to a lot of junk in my registry, etc.

Any advice?

A clean install of W7 is better than an in-place upgrade from Vista because some apps don't upgrade well & it gives a cleaner registry having to reinstall everything. W7 will usually install drivers for video and audio + basic drivers for printers/scanners/cameras (see
the Vendor's web page for full software).

Those resources would still be available from the Logos servers but the DVD media would have old versions of resources and you may need to download a further 1 GB or more from the servers. However, you can use your existing resources when you reinstall L4 - see Method 2.

Hi Rich,

I completed the Vista 64 to W7 migration last month. In Dave's parlance, clean install = the Custom Install offered during the upgrade process / menus. In my case, I COULDN'T do an in-place upgrade, because I went from Vista 64 Home to W7 Pro. (No upgrade available, only custom = clean install).

Make sure you use the settings transfer capability... it'll make your move painless for email, Office, data files, etc., (as it did mine). Can't tell you how impressed I was with how well Microsoft had thought this one through.
