MP L4 Mac training manual on clippings

On page 2 of Morris' L4 mac training manual, vol 1, he says clippings are documents "containing "index cards" on which you can paste excerpts from resources, the web, Word documents, etc. that you want to save for future use." He covers clippings in vol 2, but doesn't explain how to paste from the web or Word documents.
Is that really possible?

Hi DHG
Yes this is possible (on Windows, I don't know specifically about Mac).
Basically what you do is type some text into a clipping and select that text.
You then copy the external thing you want to link to - such as a webpage - and enter it into the hyperlink field on the clipping.
More information at http://wiki.logos.com/Clippings#Adding_Hyperlink_in_a_clipping
Hope this helps

Hi Graham,
Yes, I see now how to add the hyperlinks to existing clippings. I guess I thought it might be possible to make new clippings from external resources such as websites or Word documents.
Thanks.
