The search for Christ

A search for Christ in Nestle Aland 26 used to yield 529 results. The same search now yields 472 results. Apparently Christ has departed completely from the Gospel According to Luke among other places. Is this change confined to my computer and my installation of Logos Bible Software 4? How do I get Christ back? And when? What day? What hour? I am waiting for his return. Please help.

While I don't have the NA26 (I have 27) I remember that it was recently revised, it's possible that a bug what introduced. However, it's more likely that you're experiencing an index bug. Issue the command "Rebuild Bible index" (no quote marks) let it complete and then try the search again.

But setting that aside for the moment, I don't have NA26, but I'd find it hard to believe it differs much from the current version NA27 in this detail.

When I search for all occurrences the lemma Χριστός in NA27, I get 529 results:

This is how I did that search, BTW -- by right-clicking on one occurrence of the word in NA27 (1), then choosing Lemma tab (2) and then "Search this resource" (3):

Could you tell us a bit more about how you searched that came up with only 472 results. Perhaps post a screenshot?

The NA26 is virtually identical to the NA27, I believe there might be some punctuation differences but the main differences are in the apparatus which we don't have. So for all intents and purposes a search on the NA26 should provide the same results as the NA27 assuming the morph scheme was the same.

I have NA26, and I can confirm the bug. Re-indexing won't help, though. The problem is the χ character, which is sometimes written as χ and sometimes as Χ. In the NA27 the case doesn't appear to matter, but in NA26, it does. Searching for <Lemma = lls/el/χριστός> OR <Lemma = lls/el/Χριστός> returns all 529 results, as expected. Turning Match Case on/off makes no difference.

I'll file a bug and hopefully it will be fixed at some point.

Hasn't NA26 been superseded by NA27? Would they still be fixing bugs in an old edition? Wouldn't they rather encourage people to upgrade to NA27? They don't sell NA26 anymore.

I hope that certain resources like NA27 are flagged to ignore case, whilst the NA26 has been forgotten. If that's the case then the fix should be simple. Of course, if it's more complex you may be right.

There was a recent update (within the past month or so) to the NA26 perhaps that introduced this bug and gives hope for its fixing.

While I don't know about the differences between these editions, I have been waiting for a trip to Berkeley - the only source I know for some pericope markings is NA23 (if my memory serves me correctly) Former editions sometimes are not truly superseded.

That sure is true with the KJV and NIV. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised if it's also the case with Nestle Aland.

Thank you all for your input. Until there is a fix I will search for both the upper-case Christ and the lower-case christ.
