Find my highlights...

One of the things that I used to do reading tangible books was to transcribe the sections of a book that I highlighted to a wordprocessor to have as a quick reference of the book that I read.

I would like to suggest in the new release a tool that will select and copy the Visual Markup Highlights I may make in a book so that I can put them in a file for easy and quick reference to what I've read.

Great idea! I like it. This could also make a good starting point for a book review, or a student's book report.

Depending on what you know, there may be two parts to this: did you know that you can open a resource and jump (successively) to all the locations you have marked up? (using the "up/down" arrow keys on your resource toolbar). If you know that, and your desire is a more automated way to get those into a file, rather than cutting and pasting each one . . . then I am with you. I would think it not be that hard since those sections are already readily identifiable in Logos.

Adding to that, it would be nice to jump to specific colors (say, if your "green" highlight was for "great illustrations" and your "blue" highlight was for "key theological insight" or something like that. You could go to all your green ones and organize/collect your illustration, then, for study/research purposes, search and collect all your "blue" highlights.

Yeah - I am looking for something automated. After reading a book, I like to print out my highlights so that I have a quick reference file for that book. I would love to see this is the next version. It would seem to me be a tool that many people would find quite useful.

It will be nice if the list of highlights can be organized by

Visual Markup Palette (eg. Precept Inductive Bible Study)
Visual Markup Style (eg. God)
(I assume that most people would highlight text with more than one style)

Also the ability to search by Visual Markup Style would really be great. (The current navigate to next markup is really not very useful if we have fairly extensive markup, such as markups for Precept studies)

I agree with both of you.

AND I would like to see ability to print with markups (like when leading a precept study, etc--may not be feasible to have laptop fired up, etc)

AND I would like to have a high light pen "turned on" so that the very act of selecting a portion of text is marking it up. (at least have your highlight selections on a right click, save a little time of doing "ctrl k' or mousing up to the tool bar.

Just echoing my support for a feature that allows searching for all passages that have a certain visual markup applied to it. That would be powerful...

just reopening this issue for L4: searching for markups, etc. I don't see that it is available, I understand it might be in future versions and hope it is. I like jumping to next markup.

Adding features to markups:

searching only particular kinds. Say you are doing "precepts" and you want to find all your "salvation" references (or God or Holy Spirit etc). OR, you read through a book and mark "Green" for portions that would make great sermon illustrations or "blue" that are salient points in the discussion, etc.
the ability to gather all markups in one spot: get all my "green" illustrations together (cut and pasted to a note file?) with an automated function

Does "citations" figure into this somehow? I haven't used that yet
