Using Logos 4 and 4 Bible Versions What is the Maximum # of Verses

Since I do not have the 1984 NIV in my library I want to use the 2011 version to compare all the verses against the NASB, NKJV, and  KJV version

What is the maximum number of verses that Logos will be able to process so that I can view the differences in each version from one another?  For example can I compare Genesis 1 with one version against another or does it have to be one range of verses within a chapter or can I do a book at a time etc..

I really don't know if there's a hard limit, but I think your computer will let you know when you're asking too much by just not complying.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I tried a test (rather excessive including the entire Old Testament) and Logos crashed with an outofmemory exception.

While I'm not surprised this is probably one of those errors which could be handled more gracefully.

Graham, perhaps if I try a book at a time it might work for me.

Looks like a book at a time can be done:

Observation: comparing one chapter at a time is faster.

Problem: What do you define as a difference? [What level of differences are you looking for?]

For example Matt. 24:36   AV to NIV   do not use the exact same words but say the same thing.

    Authorized Version

Mt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

    The New International Version

    44% difference

Mt 24:36But ofabout that day andor hour knoweth‌no man, noone knows, not ‌even the angels ofin heaven, ‌nor the Son, but myonly the Fatheronly‌.

44% difference but most readers would say that they say the same thing   [Dynamic Equivalence level]

Will flag almost every verse as a difference

AND Matt. 20:7  AV to NIV   where there is a phrase that is in one but not in the other.

[But the rest is the same but in different words]

    Authorized Version

Mt 20:7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

    The New International Version

    70.5% difference

Mt 20:7 They say unto him, Because“ ‘Because no man hathone has hired us‌,’ they answered. ‌He saith untosaid to them, Go ye‘You also into thego and work in my vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive..’

Where most readers would say that the NIV has ‘no corresponding text’ for the last phrase in the AV

When measured this way will flag only about 5% of the verses as different.   [Dynamic Equivalence level]

Are you looking for every place where there is any difference what so ever or are you looking for where the versions just don’t say the same thing? [even at the Dynamic Equivalence level]

[show differences, show base text both set to on]
