"Copy Location As RL" should use heading instead of page number as link text

Currently, Copy Location as RL (Reading List, for topics.logos.com) copies a link in this format:

[[Volume 4, Page 42 >> logosres:gtkj;ref=VolumePage.V_4,_p_42]] | Getting to Know Jesus: The Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ from Alpha to Omega

But usually there is a heading at the position where you're copying from, and that's what you're going to want to have showing up as the link text in the Reading List. I find myself repeatedly having to edit out the page number reference and put in the heading instead. I think it would be more useful to have the heading put in automatically than the page number. Like this:

[[John the Baptist Testifies Concerning Jesus >> logosres:gtkj;ref=VolumePage.V_4,_p_42]] | Getting to Know Jesus: The Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ from Alpha to Omega

EDIT: It works fine for Dictionaries and Encyclopedias, basically anything with a headword, it uses that headword. For example:

[[John the Baptist >> logosres:ecv123;hw=John_the_Baptist;off=2]] | The Encyclopedia of Christianity, Volumes 1-3

But I think it ought to use the heading in the text when making links for other resources.

It's much more accurate than was the case with the old method. As much as I've been critical of the implementation of notes in L4, I think they've got this feature about right. I'm trying to figure out what it is you really want and why, perhaps you could explain more.

Yes, you misunderstood me, which means I didn't explain myself fully, so thanks for asking for a better explanation. I meant only when the location lines up exactly with where there is a heading in the text anyway, put that heading for the RL link text. It's much more interesting to see that you'll be jumping to a section on John the Baptist in some book when you're looking at the John the Baptist Reading List than to see that you're going to be jumping to Volume 5, page 42 of such-and-such a book, even though the two are equivalent ways of referring to that location.

If for some reason I wanted to put a link in a reading list into the middle of a section of a resource, where there's no heading title, then yes of course, I would prefer that the link text just show the page number.

Also, I am not proposing any change to the actual link itself (the logosres:gtkj;ref=VolumePage.V_4,_p_42 bit which takes you directly to the page and offset and would continue to do so). I'm only talking about the human readable text that appears before it (which you would see and click on in the reading list to get to that location).

To summarize the reason for my asking for this: Supposing all of the links in Reading List A were to take you to the same place in the Logos resource as the corresponding ones in Reading List B would, regardless of how they are displayed here, which format do you think looks nicer? I'm going to make my Reading Lists the latter way anyway when I edit them on topics.logos.com; I just wanted to have Logos save me a bit of editing.

Rosie's talking about the Reading List links, not the URL links. The URL links work well, but the RL links still use the old method.

I suppose the problem lies in the fact that I don't make reading lists. I was only thinking of adding a hyperlink to some text in another resource (or, I suppose, it could even be in the same resource). That is most likely why I failed to understand. My apologies. How in the world does Rosie find time for everything ?

I don't sleep much, eat most meals in front of the computer, don't get enough exercise, don't get together with friends very often (this last one is an exaggeration) and don't have a regular job. I'm a "freelancer" which means I have complete control over my time and can spend much of it on the Logos Forum for long stretches of time without any consequences. [:)]

But I also love it that the Logos Forums aren't a job, so I can take off on retreat for long stretches, usually unannounced, and not worry about it.
