2011/03/02 - Logos 4.2a (4.21.5.0050) - Update Question

Hi,

My Logos 4 system was just updated to Logos 4.2a (4.21.5.0050) automatically.

After installing and indexing, when I started up Logos 4, I had a couple of NICE new features on the Home Page: Release Notes and Updated Resources

I expanded the "Updated Resources" to read the list of Resources for my Logos 4 software Resources that were updated with this new Release.

One of the Resources on the list was "grayed out" and I thought that meant that I did not have that Resource, however it is listed as one of the Resources for my Base package, according to the Logos website.

It is the The English-Greek Reverse Interlinear New Testament - New International Version. I tested for this Resource and it is present on my system (but for the 1984 version of the NIV only - not the newest NIV release.)

So, my question is, is the reason why this Resource was "grayed out" on the listing on my Home Page because there is no English-Greek Reverse Interlinear New Testament - New International Version for the 2011 version of the NIV? Meaning, there is only an English-Greek Reverse Interlinear NT for the 1984 version of the NIV?

Otherwise, I can't figure out why it would be "grayed out" on the listing of updated Resources for my system.

All is well.

It is grayed out because you cannot open a reverse interlinear as a seperate book. It can only be used with the underlying book open. As you probably know, you can click on the other titles and go directly to that book. It is good to do this and tag each new book and tag it for those places you want it show in your library. Tagging is very much like placing a paper book you just bought on a shelf in your library. The advantage of Logos books and tagging is you can place the same book in several places on your "library shelves."

This reverse interlinear is just for the 1984 NIV. The reverse interlinear for the 2011 version has not be released.

I also do this to highlight the fancy trimming my Eskimo brothers and sister put on candles for Christmas Eve services.

This unworthy decedent of Noah's youngest son Japheth considers it a great honor to serve among so many of his oldest brother's (Shem's) descendent's. The middle bother (Ham's) descendent's are often a great encouragement. May God bless all of them.

I guess the term major could be defined differently if you were really hoping for an improvement in one area.

One of the things that I consider major, but most others probably do not, is that I can now right click on highlighting and erase it without opening the highlighter tools panel. Other things that I like: The last updated books on the homepage, download scheduler and the ability to search "Large Text" which might help us find topics a bit easier (for me anyhow).

I have Microsoft Office 2003 - and so I can't open ".docX" files! Would you by any chance have that document in a plain ".doc" file?

OR - do you happen to know if "Open Office" can open a ".docx" file?

One feature I really appreciate: Phrase searching is much faster now. (Phrases are words in quotes)

Any text that is 14pt (if I remember correctly) or larger is indexed so that you can search it. This is a fair approximation of a heading search because headings are often in a larger typeface. It's a stopgap measure as books are being updated with Heading tagging. Searching the Large Text will help many to approximate the Topic search they have been clamoring for.

I just tried a basic search with the "Large Text" option along with another option and I must say that I am impressed. I would also consider this a "major" part of the upgrade.
