I have downloaded the 4.2a and looked at the release notes and as far as I can see there were a lot of new features, lots of bug fixes, but no dealings with slowness issues. I and many others have been complaining about speed issues since day 1 of Logos 4 for Mac. My biggest issue is with prayer requests which makes it unbearable. I have posted hear before with no responses. When I click the 'Add Request' button, it takes somewhere around 45 seconds to get a blank prayer request to begin typing the text. This is ridiculous. I have been a software developer for 15 years and would be embarrassed by such slowness. Forget new features, please deal with the speed of the entire app.

Eric, can I suggest starting a new thread with this issue? Load Logos, make sure sure any background operations have finished (including syncing), re-create the problem, then close Logos and upload the logs. An accompanying video-capture would be even better. Although there are acknowledged speed problems, as I understand it the developers are keen to have actual logs of the exact issues.

Likewise suggest new thread - Mac Troubleshooting page has How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac (includes posting logs)
Also apologies - unable to replicate on 2.4 GHz iMac running 4.2a (4.21.5.0585) - created new Prayer List - able to quickly Add a request with notes.

Hi Eric,
Since not all Logos 4 Mac users experience this type of performance issue, a few more details and logs may be helpful to developers.
- Are you working in Prayer List documents imported from Logos 3?
- Does the problem occur in a specific Prayer List document, or in all of your existing Prayer Lists? Does it occur in a new Prayer LIst document?
- If it occurs in a specific Prayer List, approximately how many prayers are in that Prayer List?
You might find this information on the public wiki beneficial: http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Slow_Performance.

I have started threads before with no responses whatsoever. That is part of my frustration too. A new prayer list works fine. But when it gets to be any size at all, it gets extremely slow. I quit whining for now and just look for to the future for updates.

Apologies - found 1 thread => http://community.logos.com/forums/t/24839.aspx without any responses that was posted in Logos 4 Mac forum.
If using Beta release, suggest posting in Mac Beta forum => http://community.logos.com/forums/90.aspx

I typed in "update now" in the command box but it said there were no updates available. Any suggestions on what I need to do to get the latest release? It's been crashing all morning when I make additions to my notes file. I'm hoping the new release will fix that.

Will this re-index everything?

Upgrading to 4.2a (or 4.2a SR-1) from an earlier version will re-index everything. Upgrading from 4.2a to 4.2a SR-1 will not.

With the new column feature, I quickly set all my tabs/windows to '1' for my touchscreen. Works great. plus with the added bonus that the verses line up between windows (didn't previously; you could be 'off' by as many as 3 verses). But the best bonus of all is that the hebrew windows go backward (right-arrow = move-back). I haven't tried Japanese yet. WOW!

I am using the latest mac Book Air and just downloaded the latest release. but when it comes to indexing, it literally stopped as it shows indexing 3% complete for always 40mins!!
but for the window version of same release, the indexing was already like 40% complete. the diff is too huge for me to suspect that there are something wrong with the Mac indexing.
can someone please urgently help and advice.

Mac Troubleshooting page has How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac - can open Logos4Indexer.log file to watch progress. By default, Apple's Console utility scrolls log file(s) as they are updated. Once indexing started, personally watched Logos4Indexer.log file for updates (and indexer complete message).
Upgrading an older 4.0b installation to 4.2a had many updated resources to download - cancelled indexing - created post about issue => http://community.logos.com/forums/t/30422.aspx - restarted Logos (sometimes Mac) several times until all resource downloads completed, followed by indexing (took several hours on 2.4 GHz iMac to index 1,450 resources).
