Notes and Collections

I have a collection of resources which include illustrations, stories, etc. I am also building a Notes file of personal illustrations. I can search the collection for helpful illustrations - but that does not include the Notes file. I can search the Notes file by searching all my resources - but that seems a bit unnecessary.

My question is this -

Is there any way to include a Notes file in a collection?

I do not think there is. Right now the only option I am aware of is the basic search of the entire library. You can also set up a passage guide with just the "my content" section included. The limitation there is that you can only search bible references.

Thank you, Fred. I came to the same conclusion last night as I tried different ideas; but, not being a power user, I thought it wise to ask here.

This would make sense - I could see a number of scenarios when I might have Notes files that match the themes or ideas that parallel a similarly themed collection. E.G. Bible Study notes, topical notes, etc.

That's a great suggestion. I guess once PBB comes out, you might want to create PBBs of your illustrations, which will be able to be included in your collections, so that might help a bit.

On a side note, I also have a collection for illustrations. But, I have added my devotionals to that collection because they contain some really good illustrations also. You might want to do the same and see what comes up. Hope that helps you - God bless.

Great idea - I have now done it. I had previously added resources that contained sermons, hymn stories, etc. This was an excellent addition to those resources.

I did have a collection of "Devoionals", but since this also included Bible Study Guides as well as daily devotionals, I could not (conveniently) just import that collection. But I could refine my "Illustration" collection definition by adding "type:devotional" to the existing definition.

Has this changed in Logos 5?

I have:

A Notes file where I paste articles from an author.
A Collection for works by this author.

When I search the collection, I'd like to find matches in the articles of the Notes file.

(While I could create a PBB, that's not as easy to maintain for a prolific author.)
