Here is my crash report after the following consistent crash using the latest beta as of 3.6.11

Open to Acts 9:31 I click on the word Peace so the info in Rev Int is highlighed.

Right clicked on the word peace in the rev int and choose bible word study from the resiulting popup

CRASH!

2X in a row

Just for detail, I have two pains with NAC open in right along with HCSB, a search window, and TWOT (just because i forgot to close it). On right is ESV with Rev Int revealed.

to test I did it on the word Taking in the same passage v. 19

After posting I tested and now it crashes no matter where i click and choose bible word study

  • Wonder about screen shot before crash ?  Likewise wonder if restarting Mac affects crashing ? Edit: Yes - details below

Version is 4.21.5.0790 (current 4.2a SR-1 stable release - not released to Beta channel) - noticed "ERROR: itemControllerGenerator is nil [Check itemControllerGenerator connection]" preceding crash - followed preferences for 2 resources 1.0.710 (ESV) and 1.0.351 (HCSB)

Tried to replicate - open Logos 4.2a SR-1 to Home Page - open 1.0.710 - open 1.0.351 - In ESV, display Reverse Interlinear - Acts 9:31 - clicked on peace near top of panel - right clicked peace in reverse interlinear lines - opened Bible Word Study

Can repeat ItemControllerGenerator Error message, but no crash - able to do Bible Word Study for peace.  Puzzled by Hebrew lemma differences:

Kevin's => Applying panel settings for Preferences: Key=word%7clemma%3dlemma.af.he.פלא.3%7csource%3dLLS:1.0.710%7cword-number%3dwn.hot/153117

Mine => Applying panel settings for Preferences: Key=word%7clemma%3dlemma.af.he.היה.1%7csource%3dLLS:1.0.710%7cword-number%3dwn.hot/42650:2

Concur crash occurring during execution of Bible Word Study.

While previewing reply - quit Logos 4.2a SR-1 - CPU went to 100 % for several minutes - took a sample using Activity Monitor - next time opened Logos 4.2a on Mac, able to replicate BWS crash (right click menu - click selection peace - menu disappeared - 3rd time was a charm) - attaching zip file with 3 folders: Long Quit (with sample) and 2 BWS crashes.  For 2nd BWS crash, opened Logos 4.2a SR-1 to Home Page - opened ESV in a tab - navigated to John 1 - navigated to Acts 9:31 - right click Peace - choose selection - click Bible Word Study - crash:

    0184.4.2aSR-1.zip

Edit: restarting Mac allows BWS to be done - however, "ERROR: itemControllerGenerator is nil [Check itemControllerGenerator connection]" repeats - quit Logos and launch again - BWS crash easy to repeat: open to Home Page - open ESV - right click peace in Acts 9:31 - crash.

    interesting...

I'm able to run BWS under same scenario without crashing.

Wondering which Logos 4.2a version - last Beta is 4.21.5.0585 while latest stable is 4.21.5.0790 ?

Likewise wonder about closing Logos 4.2a - relaunch Logos 4.2a - try BWS again ?

Observation: BWS in 4.21.5.0790 is usable for initial Logos 4 Mac launch after restart - changes after closing and relaunching - repeatable BWS crash.

  • Some more details may help repeat BWS crashing - sharing an iMac 10.6.6 with my wife - after restart, login to her user account, launch Logos 4.2a SR-1 - then login to my account - initial BWS works in ESV - close Logos 4.2a SR-1 - open in my account - BWS crash.  Tried logging out of my account, then login - launch Logos 4.2a SR-1 gets BWS crash - need to restart Mac to clear issue.

Noticed a familiar message in Kevin's Indexer.log file: "Indexer was requested to run for a user other than the last logged-in user; exiting now. "

Observation: since my wife and I often use Logos 4 at same time, we have our own libraries (avoids personal item collision during syncing).

I'm sorry...didn't realize until now that this is in the Mac BETA forum. I'm running latest released - 4.2a SR-1 (4.21.5.0790).

Currently, 4.2a SR-1 (4.21.5.0790) is the most recent Logos 4 Mac release (sometimes Stable channel has newer release than Beta channel).

Suspect Logos developers monitor Mac Beta forum bit more than Logos 4 Mac forum.  Likewise suspect fixing this BWS crash issue in stable 4.2a version SR-1 may bump some Beta development (for Stable service release) and/or be included in an upcoming Beta release - hence Kevin's initial post to Mac Beta forum.

Thanks for trying to replicate - any crash insights are worthwhile - helps understand scope (who's affected).

Kevin and Keep Smiling ~  Are you still getting crashes with BWS?  We were never able to reproduce here.

Using Logos Bible Software 4.2a SR-3 (4.21.5.0945), unable to replicate BWS crash.
