Wow, endless crashing of Logos app
Wow, I'm now getting endless crashes of the Logos app on my iPad-1. Latest version of Ap. (the new one with offline search).
I have some 30 GB space free, but have downloaded maybe 500 or 1000 or more titles, to permit offline reading. Hard to say, but it seemed this started a few weeks ago, and has been getting worse. I used to be able to try 3 or 4 times, and the app would load. Just now, after some 10 attempts and a full iOS restart, the Logos app still wont start. I get the splash page, and then it exits. As I can't get it to start, I can't send the report from the About box. And its generally days between me having access to a PC, and my iPad goes a mth at a time without being connected to iTunes, so any logging that way is not so easy. Is there any ideas?

If you sync to iTunes, you can get crash logs. I don't know a way of seeing those logs directly on the iPad. So until you're able to get back to your desktop, I don't really know what to suggest (other than an uninstall).

Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback. I just downloaded a memory-monitoring app, and started it, then tried Logos again, and it started that time. I just emailed the logs from the About screen. Not sure the crash data is even in those reports, but maybe they can be useful. Now I use my iPad for daily emails, web and the like, its rare I boot my PC and its some time to download antivirus, patches, email etc so its no small task to connect my iPad to iTunes.
I look at computers all day at work, so messing with one at home is nothing I want to be doing.
Also, I,ve lost heart in Logos4 given the many issues. I miss its many features, but I don't want to even look at it sometimes, given the feelings of disapointment it can make me feel at times. Sorry - this post is not the best place to document what I think needs to be fixed to make the Logos4 program better.0 -
I am glad I am not the only one! Last Friday I could not get the app to open, been having problems for a couple of months now but usually it would open by the tenth try. After at least 25 tries I gave up and uninstalled the app, along with a couple thousand resources. I reinstalled and now there are even more resources that fail to download. And then today it started crashing while I was already in the app. This is new as before it would only crash at launch. I am getting frustrated as well and hope this gets fixed soon, I really do not want to have to reinvest money in resources I already have in Logos, but Olive Tree is looking mighty tempting theses days. The iPad is my primary tool now and I am very disappointed with the app so far this year.

Alan, Don't be too quick to give up. It took a long time before I gave up hope on Logos4 until something changes ...
Anyway, re Logos for iOS, mine has been crashing. more and more on startup. If I can extract the crash logs via iTunes etc, maybe this bug can be fixed.
(My issues with Logos4 is about "The Cloud-only" model and download all-or-nothing, and realated concepts. The Forums are fill of people complainng about some of those aspects, but the company seemed to have made their minds up.)
I'm hoping Dave will be able to crack the issue with the iOS Logos App crashing on start-up, once he gets some logs. Send one in if you can. See earlier posts for how.

I am so sorry to hear about the many crash issues some are having with the Logos app. Maybe I am just using the app differently than most. I have not had a crash of the app. I have only downloaded about 30 resources that I read from. I have about 10 resources that I read from as I have the time, and about a dozen or so commentaries to help me with my Sunday School lesson preparation. And a few other items that I use as reference material.
I only go online with I need to download new resources. I had a few issues with some commentaries not downloading and getting the error message that was posted on the forum, but the recent update to the app, fixed that issue for me.

OK,
I booted up my Windows PC, updated iTunes, and extracted the Logos app crash-logs from the named directory. I've emailed these off to Logos, so maybe in due course, I'll hear something directly from Support and/or we will get an updated version of the app in due course.

My iPad Logos app just started crashing every time I try to access the Bible reading plan; just dies. I can get to everything else. Very strange.

the Logos iPhone app also kept crashing on me too. i later discovered the problem and it stopped the crashing: changing my password.
i had changed my logos password via the website for security reasons. that's when the app crashing started. i suspected this was the cause for the crashes, so i changed my account password back and i was able to run the app again.
i already emailed my logs to Logos but haven't heard from them about it yet.

There is a bug in the app that causes a crash if your password has changed. A fix will be in the next release. The only workaround is to delete the app.

Update: normal function has resumed now that I'm back to using my normal work and home networks. My conclusion: the crashing was related to network configuration at the hotel I was staying at. I'm guessing it was a proxy in their network, or firewall setting, or something, that the app didn't like when it was trying to download my daily Bible reading plan off the Internet.

Logos replied by email that the app failed on some startup timeouts or related. I deleted a number of offline files and it seems to cope better, but now I can't have all that I have paid for. Any solution soon?

BUMP!
My app now wont load at all. Crashes after 15 seconds of splash-screen. Restarts from cold-boot makes no diff. Seems I have no options except to delete the app, to clear things, and start again. Goodbye to many many hours of downloads and many GB of Internet traffic.0 -
I ran into the same problem,w hich I have noted in another thread. After at least 100 consecutive crashes I reinstalled the program. I appears 1.70 will not handle a large number of resources. I had 2,500 previously, and noticed the problem is reappearing now as I reinstall a large number of resources.
