4.2a SR-2 - Macbook runs extremely hot and software performs at a snail's pace

I am having problems with the latest version of L4. I just updated and the same problem persists. Every time I open L4 my Macbook (CoreDuo 2.4Ghz w/2GB ram) immediately moves into high gear and at sometimes feel like it may be overheating. Scrolling is delayed in PG and EG. Generating guides takes several minutes, and even after completely generated, clicking and scrolling is extremely delayed. I run Adobe software like Illustrator and Photoshop with hardly any hiccups, but it seems that L4 is using everything my Macbook has. I have read other posts where users are experiencing the same slowness.

Here is what I am doing when I experience problems:

1. Open L4 without any other applications open (Macbook immediately heats up)

2. Type in passage in Go bar (Tonight was James 1:1-11)

3. Slow performance while generating PG and EG.

4. Can close program without crashing, yet Macbook persists with noise and heat until I restart or enter sleep mode.

Logos 4 indexing needs to complete - Logos 4.2a needs to completely rebuild Bible and Library indexes.

Suggest connecting power adapter to Mac Book, restart Mac, watch for Blue Logos icon in Menu Bar, wait for Blue Logos Icon to disappear, then launch Logos 4 Mac. Also may want to adjust energy saver system preferences so monitor can sleep, but computer and hard drive do not while indexing in progress.

Option: can open Indexer.log to monitor progress - by default, log file scrolls as new lines are written.

L4 is using everything my Macbook has.

Indexing is resource intensive - if have laptop cooler, may want to place Mac Book on cooler while indexing. Also, Logos 4 search not usable until indexing done.

Just adding a word to the wise. My 5 year old 17" MBP was indexing and getting hot. I put an extra fan (actually the vacuum cleaner) to keep it cool. When the hose slipped it overheated enough to fry the power supply board and the battery charge circuit. I don't know what else is gone since it won't power up. Older machines can be vulnerable since the fans and the thermal paste deteriorate with age.

The good news is that the other half approved replacing it with a new 17" MBP, so all's well that ends well. but watch processor heating when you index on a laptop. Get temperature monitor and use it.
