Is it possible to pause read aloud, and then continue?
Is it possible to got back/forward a sentence/verse/paragraph?
Some Doc's seem to be in big chunks, and require moving too far forward or back to review.
According to http://wiki.logos.com/Read_Aloud you can use ctrl R to pause and resume, if you don't scroll the window
To go back try positioning your window to where you want to start. If that doesn't work then I don't know what will.
